RE: what job do you do
I have been retired for many years and I am now too old to remember what I did yesterday never mind before I retired - an accountant I think. Now I live in 'Eddie's Home for the Bewildered' where I potter about in the garden and go fishing - at least I think I do but I am not sure. I think today is Tuesday and it is a lovely morning so I am going to cut the grass - I think - if I can remember where I parked the car - or is it the lawnmower.

i guess you could see it that way , i went from being a cook to doing maintenance . working in the restaurants is hell , and it is common for cooks to break away from the buisness once in a while.

RE: what job do you do
I was all set to make fun of Don for his intolerance to mild temperatures, and then I read - 130+ with 100% humidity?!  What fresh hell is that?!

The AC is broken in my car, and I'm dying.  Today my neighborhood hit 112*F, but that was at just 11% humidity.

The heat doesn't faze me.  Humidity kicks my ass.  And out here, I don't mind the heat, but the sun is BRUTAL.  UV indexes of 14-16 are common this time of year.  SPF 120 FTW.

Remind one liberal per day, that laws affect only the law-abiding.

Waiting for the wet season on the fringes of the Kalahari Desert. That was 30 years ago and I can still remember it.

Yeah - dry heat is OK up to very high temperatures. Humid gets nasty fast.

UV is rarely an issue round here. The all-time record temperature here is under 85F so we are used to being cooler than some. After 30 years back in this climate I'm a lot less tolerant of extremely hot weather than I was.

RE: what job do you do
Actually Gently, the jump was more about being burned out by baby-sitting a LARGE room full of female data processing clerks for about ten years (remember I was working 2 fulltime jobs then) and I decided that I needed a fresh start (loved being the senior grillmaster at a great 4 star restaurant in Knoxville but needed more income than they would offer as well). Now the money is much better but I baby-sit a jobsite full of grown men who whine about everything under the sun and I swear they are more trouble than the gals or cooks ever were!

Tell me about it....I have several senior team leaders who earn $90G+ and they whine worse than 9 year olds! Sad They bitch non stop, always look to pass the work off....and cry when I start the disciplinary process to address their poor leadership behaviour. Sad
