nano dragon
basic micro ( single , dual and quad )

RE: what coils have you built ?
I'm gonna sound like a smart ass but here goes.

*edit* I started but realised they don't all have actual names. Also got bored typing, all types listed include all available wire types and also mixed.

Single wire;

All formats of ribbon, round and square.

Two wires;

Ribbon/round twisted in 3 kanthals, 5 ss's, 2 nicr's. All g's
Round/round twisted.. as above inc ti, ni, ni200
Ribbon/ribbon twisted.. as above
Clapton.. as above inc ti, ni, ni200
Ribbon clapton
Parallels
Twisted ribbon clapton

Three wire;

Twisted wrap clapton
Fused clapton
Ribbon fused clapton

*Edit Mk2.. there's too many to list, think I've done 80% of the coils out there, some of my own creations too Smile

RE: what coils have you built ?
I'm with Mike on this one. I probably haven't made quite as many as him, but I've made a lot.

All the basics - nano, micro, macro, twisted, parallel.

Claptons, fused Claptons, using all different gauges in kanthal, nichrome and SS.

Various parallel/twisted combinations, like twisting a Clapton with twisted wire, Clapton parallel with plain wire, etc etc.

I've got pics on here of most of my builds, except the ones that didn't work out. I tried probably a dozen times to make an alien Clapton and never could get it right.

The hardest one by far was when I made a stapled fused helix. Definitely not worth the insane amount of effort.

My favorite (so far) is a fused clapton with 26ga SS cores and twisted 38ga kanthal for the wrap.

a zippered clapton looks sweet , but that's another where the results don't really merit the effort .

Now, be honest with me, you mighty builders. I know it's fun and a source of pride for you to build those art gallery coils, but are they truly a better vape than say a twisted strand? I'm not trying to knock it- building is an art, and comparatively, I am Clementine Hunter to your Andy Warhol, but is a build like that really a noticeable better vape?

RE: what coils have you built ?
The best coil I build - because it is the only one I build[Image: tongue.gif] is a five wrap 30g kanthal - perfect for MTL. I have made it so often now that every one is the same resistance within .01ohm. I would have entered it for the competition but decided to let others have the chance of winning[Image: smile.gif].

to be honest the clapton coils are well worth the effort , the flavor is brilliant . most have been fun to build , but a simple twisted or parallel can produce plenty of cloud . a quad coil is wild with enough wats , but such a cumbersome ordeal and wick to install on a 22mm deck it realy out weighs the benefits .
oops that was supposed to be in response to TW

Gimme your address and I'll send over some coils, judge for yourself Smile

On mech some coils make a massive differnce, like fitting a turbo comparatively. On regulated they still perform well, and so yes, better than twisted.
Not all coils work out, some like mikes twistedstaggeredstagedfusedclaptonspankmonky coil, turn out to be a waste of time.. I've had a few of those for sure.

RE: what coils have you built ?
I can't put your coils on my gear. It will explode. It's not used to any sort of royal treatment.

OK, so if coils can really make a huge difference, what's the very best one to use? Taking into account the trouble it takes to build and/or wick.
