RE: vegan???
Bump for interest.
I'm not vegan, as I love meat; but I'm curious what kind of spectrum the flavors across the world are Vegan.

I am going to say yes, it's vegan. One of the main ingredients of juice is Vegetable Glycerin, which is made from plant oil. Propylene glycol a synthetic chemical made derived from natural gas. As far as I can tell, nicotine is not made with any animal products.

I can't guarantee this. I don't know all the ingredients of all flavorings. However, I seriously doubt animal products are involved.

Hopefully Don the chemist may shed some more light on this.

Well come to the forum. It's a great place to ask questions. Are you trying to quit smoking? What gear are you using?

RE: vegan???
I suppose it is possible to get a non vegan juice but I doubt if you would even consider those weird flavors. In fact most juices are kosher and halal. Seriously. There is a vape shop that sells to orthodox Jews - he uses well known brands and they are certified kosher. So vape away. You can also DIY your juices. And you can buy only organic or natural flavorings. You are pretty safe vaping as a vegan.

So most juice is 100% vegan. You might find some with animal-based glycerin but it's very rare and every manufacturer I know uses vegetable based. Email the supplier and they'll usually tell you it's vegan. Same with DIY flavors, which many already note are vegan. PG, VG, artificial and natural flavors, and liquid nicotine were probably tested on animals for FDA approval. But I cannot say for sure. It is hard to be 100% cruelty free. Any chemical, material or paint might have been tested on animals - this includes the computer I'm typing on. Having said all of that be wary of Vanilla natural flavorings. Some contain Castoreum (an animal by product from beavers). It is used also but rarely in natural Strawberry and Raspberry flavors. You would need to ask the manufacturer if this product is in their flavorings. Google Castoreum and try not to vomit.

Hope this helps you decide.

I blame you PaulS. Of course I googled it, and yes there was vomit in my mouth after reading it. Did you know you milk it from the anus of a beaver? Do not google Castoreum! I now have a vision of beaver farm where their anus are milked.

I tried to share this information with my spouse, before I got one sentence in, he left the room chanting "I don't want to know."

I want to know who figured out that beaver anal secretion would make great flavoring? This is a Canadian thing right?

Canadian beavers are used, yes. Those anal glands are very expensive as well. I was trying to be thorough for the vegan. It is extremely hard to be vegan - there are so many additives used in so many products. But I had to at least mention the possibility of a juice not being vegan. This is the problem with many products. I'm a die hard vaper. Don't get me wrong. But it would be nice to get real labeling on some products. I mean there is becel with animal by products. Castoreum is used in perfumes! We get asked a lot of questions on this forum. I feel it is best not to make any assumptions. I just write what I know or say that I'm not sure.

I completely agree. That's why I put in the caveat that we don't know all the ingredients involved in making juice. Even when we make it. After reading the fact it's difficult to obtain, and therefore expensive, I doubt it's in any of the flavorings we DIYer's use, but no definitive answer can be given.

RE: vegan???
Fwiw, if you're mixing your own juice you should be able to get an ingredient list from your flavoring supplier. I haven't done this myself, because honestly I don't really care that much because no matter what's in it I'm sure it's way safer than smoking. But I might send Capella's an email for the sake of reference when people ask questions.

That would be good information to have. This is an interesting question and one I'm happy to do research on. Do the big juice companies use the same flavorings we use? I would think they would make their own.

RE: vegan???
There are only a few large flavour companies.

AFAIK all the suppliers actually buy from these few flavour manufacturers.
