iStick Pico problem
Hi Everyone. As my name suggests I'm trying to give up smoking. I've just started vaping and not touched a cigarette for 3 weeks now since I vaping and I love it. But I have a question. I have an iStick Pico with the Melo III Mini. I've just changed the 0.3 ohms coil that came in the box and put the 0.5 ohms coil in but found my vapes are now not as smooth as previously with crackling and spitting when I vape and it hitting my throat - whereas before I didn't have this problem. I'm not sure why this is happening? I think I may have flooded the coil a bit so that may be the reason or it maybe that the new coil is behaving differently. As I'm totally new to this I would be very interested to hear anyone's thoughts on what might be the issue. (I only changed the coil last night.)

ps - also all the settings on the mod are totally confusing me. The only one I understand is that I set it at 40 w as that worked fine with the other coil. But what is all this TC and M1/2/3 Bypass and so on... can someone tell me what would be average or standard settings so I can just set it right in case I've messed them all up.

Sorry if my questions seem stupid. I'm almost 60 and never been good with technology.

Thanks

RS

I have the Pico as well and I love it. I didn't have that happen when I switched out coils from .3 to .5. It could be that it's flooded. The mode you have it in is Wattage. TC is Temperature Control Mode and m1,2,3 are I think custom presets. Bypass is basically letting you use it like a mech mod.

Welcome to TVF RS.

You might want to lower or raise the wattage since you now have a different resistance coil to find that sweet happy vaping place. As a newbie, don't worry about all of the settings, that will all eventually make sense - as Bibs pointed out, it's different settings for different vaping options - right now being new to vaping and not techno savvy, all of those features won't impact your vaping at all in a positive way, could actually cause the opposite effect as you can get frustrated with it all....I've been vaping for 10+ months and still haven't got into temperature control or anything outside of power mode. Fill up your tank, pull up a chair and enjoy! Smile

RE: iStick Pico problem
Thanks so much guys you are awesome! I lowered the wattage to 25 and that appears to have improved the smoothness immensely. I do feel silly now as it seems so simple. I will have a go increasing slightly as the days go by and stop when I think I have found the best setting for me. Thanks again guys.

Welcome to the forum RS. TW probably mistook Umi for me, Bibs, since I was posting about my second Pico. They are good study mods which enjoy. My suggestion is to stick with Power Mode, Wattage, start at low setting and slowly go up until you find your sweet spot. You can always play with TC settings later. Here is an thread on Popping Coils.

RE: iStick Pico problem
See umi, I'm not the one one mixing up users here.... Smile

RS, we were all new once and there is no such thing as silly questions - occasionally a silly answer but never a question. We're a laid back bunch, often we go off track but usually with the subject thread....as you get more comfortable with your gear you'll play with the wattage and the airflow. Depending on the juice and nicotene level, each flavour may have a specific place that you enjoy best....3 weeks is great, before you know it, it will be months since your last cig. Use the below link to track your progress and accomplishment.

FB is correct. I would probably still be smoking if not for this forum. There are indeed no silly questions. It's rare a question goes unanswered. This is also a Troll free forum, the moderators are quick to take care of negative or hostile comments. So indeed relax, read the threads, and enjoy vaping.

Here are some article to get you started.FAQ Section?
