husband vapes but is experiencing chest discomfort
My husband was in ICU over the summer due to a lung infection. He's taken up vaping since Aug when he was discharged after a week of being in the hospital. He is trying out different flavors but still is smoking as he was advised not to do it anymore.  He says he's getting some chest discomfort. Is this normal after doing it for a few months?
He was supposed to go see the doctor, but the dr who specializes in this got sick and his appointment was cancelled. Our budget can't really afford the cigarettes.

Advice?

RE: husband vapes but is experiencing chest discomfort
Hi Jan.  I wouldn't say pain or discomfort was synonymous with vaping. Vaping can rasp a little at first and be harsh with high levels of nicotine but few, if any, medical issues arrise as a result of vaping.
We'd need more info from you on the device and juices being used to determine if there is an obvious problem there.
Personally I'd think it prudent to discuss the issue with his doctor, there may be residual effects from his illness or continued smoking causing his discomfort.

RE: husband vapes but is experiencing chest discomfort
Hi Jan,

I'd recommend you force him to see a doctor and the sooner the better. Chest discomfort can be caused by many things and often are linked to problems with lungs, heart and nerves too. In your husband's case however, and knowing that he used to smoke, by the sounds of it quite a lot, it might be something to do with lung infection. Everything can be treated if diagnosed soon enough so get him to see a doctor.

I personally don't think it's related to vaping and the only other thing to mention is what ''gentlydoingit'' mentioned already and it's the nicotine strength. Worth trying something weaker and perhaps a different flavor. Or maybe even best that he avoids vaping until he has seen a doctor.

Hope you get to the bottom of it.

High VG content is milder, and of course a low nicotine level. Try to avoid harsh tabacco flavours, mamy out there are pretty harsh.

If he needs tabacco taste try something smooth and sweeter. To me this is an example for a smooth and pleasant tabacco with low harshness and smell: https://www.worldvapor.com/eliquid/liqua-eliquid-bright-tobacco.html
If he does not need tabacco I recommend strawberry, almost any is not harsh. It's one flavour most seem to get right.

If he's still smoking, that's almost certainly related.

None of us can say for sure that vaping ISN'T the issue, but it'd certainly be surprising if it was.

I had the same problem last year when I started. As it turned out it was just the juice I was using. Sometimes you can have a reaction to the pg or VG that is in the mix, and sometimes even the compounds in the flavor it's self. I switched to a max VG juice and expieramented with new brands and flavors, haven't had a problem since.
