Yes he was the architect and driving force behind The British North America Act (1867) which of course on July 1st is 150 years old! Sadly his political career ended on a sour note as his party was entangled in a bribery scandal involving the Canadian Pacific Railroad. Sad

I remember reading about all that in my school history lessons - a rather sad end for such a great guy.
