coil restrictions
Hi there,

I finally find a larger tank that I'd like to buy - the Aspire Speedo which uses the Athos tank. Just love the looks of this. I'm looking at the coil options/wattage on this page:

https://www.aspirecig.com/aspire-tanks/a...os473.html

Does anyone know if the wattage info given is the actual "hard lines" (in other words this coil will *only* work within this range) or is it the "best at" settings being stated thus meaning there may be more up/down play in these? Sometimes I like to be at 40-50W (for minty or menthol juice) but it looks like I can't do that with this tank and that's why I'm asking.

Thanks,
Deb

RE: coil restrictions
Hi Deb - this is purely a DTL tank and has three coils - I am sure that the one rated at 60 to 80W will vape fine at 50W. Just be aware that this is a really powerful tank and you may have to up your power level for it. Best of Luck.

RE: coil restrictions
Low power on some coils can cause them to flood, can't say the results on that particular coil but it's worth taking into account if you have any issues.

So how does one tell the difference between MTL and DTL devices? I don't see either method mentioned on the page so how did you determine it's a DTL tank? Also, what difference does the device make when it comes to one's vaping method? I'm pretty sure I'm doing DTL anyway. Been watching some videos and the people that are demonstrating are not demonstrating clearly enough to be able to tell the difference without question for me anyway. Both methods look the same to me. When I'm vaping I don't think I'm holding vape in my mouth its all going straight in to my lungs I think?

I was actually looking for a Vaporesso device because FatBoy recommended them but I have yet to find one that I like the looks of that is rated for over 80W. I had one picked out but the more I looked at it the more it reminds me of a bottle of cough medicine Undecided Ya'all probably aren't as picky as me and are thinking I'm nuts but to me the look of my device and how it feels in my hand as well is important. I really like the looks of the Speedo and the "helmet" on the tank is great - makes me feel a bit safer about stuffing a device into my purse cuz the glass is more protected. But I also really don't need to make *another* costly mistake when purchasing, made a few too many of those already. Sad

RE: coil restrictions
Both methods are markedly different. As I mentioned in a different thread of yours earlier-

Direct to lung, or DL, is drawing the vapor directly to the lungs in the same breath as the inhale. Like breathing in to prepare to blow up a balloon.

Mouth to lung, or MTL, is two steps. Step one is drawing the vapor into your mouth. Step two is then drawing it into your lungs. This is the metod most smokers use.

Tanks are MTL or DL due to the airflow available, either fairly wide open to accommodate DL, or highly restricted to accommodate MTL. And with disposable coil atties, the coils available help determine the use of the tank.

DL and MTL are very much different styles.

RE: coil restrictions
I just found a couple of videos that show the difference more distinctly and thank you for your repeat explanation. I'm 99.99% sure I'm doing DTL but I do use a smaller airflow so I get more flavor. When I try to do MTL it feels awkward and like I'm a total klutz forcing the actions so I'm going to conclude that I am taking it directly into my lungs do not pass go do not collect $200 Wink

RE: coil restrictions
I started by doing MTL since that is how I smoked analogs. I switched to DL because at that time, I wanted bigger clouds. I've become stuck there. I like it too, but oddly enough, when I try MTL I cough every time. Guess I'd be a pretty bad smoker these days too.

My brain says it the other way around that DTL would be the tough one.

RE: coil restrictions
When you MTL you inhale concentrated vapour - uncontaminated by air - that is why you get better flavour - many disagree but that is my take on it - it is what makes vaping as interesting as it is - everyone is different - but not as old as me[Image: tongue.gif].
