I'd seen that one, I prefer todds brass and oak box myself. Just something more steam punk about it. I'll see what I can come up with.

I certainly suspect the board is far smaller than I'm thinking for a start.

RE: box mod ideas thread
I found this huge thread on ecf. Plenty of ideas and I can see building something functional.

I may revise my idea of using the 32650 in favour of a lipo pack. Much more compact.

Great thread! I'm curious though, I went through the entire thread and saw some great ideas and designs but did he actually ever get a finished product ?

I couldn't find one if he didConfused

RE: box mod ideas thread
He had a couple of functional lash ups towards the end, basically a c shaped piece carrying everything then heat shrinked, actually a dammed good idea imo and easy to build.

I've just had hold of a 32650 to have a look see. If I was to make it a snail shell profile when viewed from above, it might be quite workable.  To give you an idea, imagine looking down on a d cell maglite with a ten deck of fags stood next to it. That sort of profile could work. Piece of shaped timber, firing button and atty connection on top, brass end plates top and bottom,  counter sunk brass screws passing from botyom to top with dome nuts, possibly a brass trim plate on the fag packet end. I can see that.

1c is six amps on the 32650 cells,  1.5c is 9a so I'm confident they can handle it, I could shape the body out of good pine then stain and wax it. I'm getting excited  about this now.

This is my kind of thing.

RE: box mod ideas thread
I've purchased this box several days ago from FT.  Internally it is 32mm*65mm and roughly 90mm long.  Externally it is 35mm*76mm*100mm.  Should be plenty to hold 2*32650 and any internals you want.  I will probably use 2 or 3 18650 cells in parallel.

I purchased a couple of these almost a month ago knowing they'd be a little tight but they were even smaller inside than I figured.  I may still use them with several 14500 in parallel but I really wanted 2 or 3 18650.

I was at my local vape shop last night talking with the folks working there and was playing with the Innokin VTR they have there.  What a solid HEAVY little brick that thing is.  I was thoroughly impressed with the feel of that little tank.  Now I want one badly!  The only thing I didn't care so much for was the battery door lock.  While I'm sure it's very secure, it felt like a weak point in the design.  With a battery inserted and under spring pressure it might be an entirely different story.  I'm hoping I can make something similar to it in feel but I may end up having to get a VTR. RE: box mod ideas thread
12watts vs 20watts? Im bouncing off the 15watt limit on my vamos fairly regularly now on some builds. There's mention of a dna20 vtr conversion in that thread I linked.

Those extruded boxes look useful, but I REALLY want something in brass and wood, something steampunk rather than industrial, plus if I can build it myself, it will be unique, personal to me, I like the idea of that.

I would too. If it wouldn't look like it had already been chewed by the dogs before they'd even been near it.
