Unfortunately they're on backorder just now which they weren't this afternoon. As ever with HobbyKing, leave the page open for a bit and you'll get a discount offer on it.

But these are in stock - they're only 60C/70C Burst though. But that's still over 300A! They're also a bit cheaper.

Yeah I got a price drop. Awesome.  Cheers Don.   Its not quite as high a capacity as the 32650 but easier to fit.......hmmm $17 was my offer. Thats pretty cheap, I can see a couple more box mods using this battery thats for sure

I've ordered from Hobbyking before, they're a great company to deal with.

RE: box mod ideas thread
Ok so the dna30 is available, may as well have some info and thoughts on it.

[Image: Screenshot_2014-02-23-18-55-17_zpsttrqp6oe.png]

There's the input and output specs, all available from the evolv website via pdf.

My first thought. They state it is designed to be visually identical to the dna20 to reduce tooling costs.

Cynically, I read that as its a firmware upgrade of the existing board, that being the case, it would be nice if ypur dna20 board could be reprogrammed by an authorised dealer. (I also know everyone in vaping land calls these chips, imo its fucking stupid and ignorant, its not a chip, its a circuit board, rant over).

Second thought, maximum input current is 12a.......I've seen a few rewiews where the reviewer has been told it can only be used with sony vct4 cells......

As Don points out above, your average li po pack will do north of 100a without breaking a sweat.

One panasonic 18650 pd will do 10a......
So what about using three or four panasonic pd or pf cells in parrallel like a skyray king? A lipo pack would be more compact but its certainly not in need of ridiculously high output cells, heck 12a is only 2c on my feilongs, and your average lipo pack wouldn't even notice a 12a load being placed on it.

I'm getting a little further with my box mod, but I'm tied up a lot of the time with family and work, I need to book a day off and go get out of the way because I could have the vast majority of it done in a day. I have had an idea for a 510 connector, so I may do something with that on another build I have in mind.

Can't see why not with the parallel cells - best with unprotected ones though. And I'd want to balance charge them to be on the safe side but it's a lighter load than a good SRK is pulling from the cells.

FT has cheap 18650 holders back in stock - I'm getting some to mod a Versapack drill with shot batteries. For mod use I'd want to rip out all the metal bits and wires and replace them with something better.

Parallel cells will automatically self-balance, but there's absolutely no reason why not to run them like that

I'd just flatten out some copper tube to make the pos/neg contacts. It wants wiring in 20 gauge maximum but the cable specs are in the pdf

RE: box mod ideas thread
Planning to use springs? Or just tailor it round specific cells? Me, I'd go for the springs, preferably ones like in the Maha C808M. Photobucket has let me upload the appropriate pic about 6 times but flatly refuses to show it to me or anyone else SadAngry

Yeah, sprung negative, dimpled positive, you can always zero res the springs at the same time

Didn't take any more pictures, I need another micro switch, the big one I bought wont fit and I want parrallel 18650 cells, also going to have to see if dad fancies machining up some bits for a spring loaded 510 connector, the one I bought was fixed and is now broken, its less than useful to say the least, I do have a design in mind, just need a bit of 1/4" flat brass, some delrin and a bit of brass to make a pin.

That altoids tin you sent Don? Yeah, its got some holes in it now lol.
