RE: box mod ideas thread
I have a couple of flat-top 32600s that ran an ROP high bulb in a 2D Mag with all the usual mods. But given that ROP High bulbs just don't impress these days - I have 3-5 LED lights that can easily beat it on output (1000L on a good day just before the bulb blows up and knackers another expensive reflector) and don't cause bulbs to blow up every four hours of use.

For me it'd have to be industrial - my manual skills fundamentally don't exist.

Actually, a Mag bulb to 510 adapter would work very well for me - stick a nice dripper on top of it, or a really big Genesis and it'd make a lovely home vaping device. Could go lots of coils of heavy wire to handle the current - the Mag switch will die at 4-12A depending on generation so free current limiting. But a 30-50W mech mod is perfectly possible this way.

Anyone have a lathe with some fancy thread cutting bits - they's have to be fancy as I've no doubt at all that the Mag is Imperial threads and equally no doubt that the 510 is metric?

If so - make several and sell lots of therm to rich people so I can afford the Chinese clone Smile Smile

510 is m7 x 1mm. I've only found taps in china, which didn't impress me much, id want hss taps, given my 18 year old rusty hss taps still cut well. Mags, I think the old ones are imperial and the new ones are metric.

An even easier torch based mod would be a p60 with a forward clicky. Those chinese taps would easily cut brass. Drill and tap a p60 base m7 x 1. Back bore it m12, get some matching m12 delrin rod, stick in the lathe and drill and tap it m4. Use an m4 brass screw for the positive connection, copper sleeve the p60 pill gor the negative.......

Not that ive thought about it or anything.

No updates on the mods. Toni's dad died over the weekend,  liver failure.

Mods are on the back burner for now.

Cheers guys. We're doing what we can. I'll do a post elsewhere about this. I'm liable to rant.

Was looking at the HobbyKing website today. They have 5800mAh LiPo hard case cells rated for 65C continuous, 130C peak for about 15 quid from the UK warehouse. Might be of use for your box mod.
