I can't blame you guys but I'm thinking of something along the lines of Spas' CHOD that can easily be reproduced and possibly sold.  I may make something a little more exotic after I make working proof of concept.

I really want to make one of these babies.  I love the look and simplicity.

I also found an album from an owner of one that has posted pics of how the SideWinder kits work:  http://imgur.com/a/p3Z65#3IbDIVS

Hopefully that works, I ordered a dna20, a 1a usb charging board,  a green illuminated pushbutton and a gold sealed 510 connector. I'm not planning on using the charger wired to the dna20 as that will only allow a 500ma charge current and I've no interest in using a usb pass through. I cant see it running out of charge anyway and at 1a it should be able to recharge over night.

I may yet try and get an m7x.5mm tap and die and make my own 510 connector, not sure yet.

Another box mod here that might suit johnnymac

Ok, I've ordered an a4 size sheet of 2mm lexan from eBay along with a 2" x 1/8" x 200mm flat brass bar. I've got a huge lump of mahogany at my dads that was going to be used to make a gun stock, should be able to turn out a few mods from that,  from boxes to grippers.

Still unsure on whether to ho for remote control switches or turned actuators for the on board switches.

This really feels like its coming together now.Cool

I'd go for remote switches - stuff does get damaged and then it'll be lots easier to fix. But more fiddly to put together. I like your fire button.

RE: box mod ideas thread
I just ordered a couple of tactile switches,  20 and 22 awg silicone cable some m5 threaded rod,  m5 dome nuts and some othe sundries. I should be able to get something built in the next couple of weeks on and off.

I'm thinking of a timber block hollowed out in a few places, the tinted lexan making a window that the display will be seen through and brass caps on the top, bottom and one side to carry battery neg, 510 connector and the three control switches, final shape to be determined but it should fulfill what I have in mind. Total cost so far is less than £100 plus my time building it.

Should be fun. I think I could build one for around 70 quid if I just went for a plastic/aluminium hobby box, the biggest cost is the dna20 itself, if you were to use a lipo pack,  that'd be about thirty quid too unless you wanted to mess around yourself reconfiguring a cheaper multicell pack to 3.7v.

The more I look into this, the options are pretty limitless if your not too fussy about the final look of the thing. There are also much cheaper variable voltage boards available if you just wish to build a sane little box mod or you can build one like 18sixfifties set ups shown back at the start really cheaply.
