I just have and I'm somewhat bemused now.

I'll post results when I do more tests but for now, I'm not convinced you need to run aw imrs in everything.

I haven't but it is an interesting idea.  I've always had a hard time believing they run harder than a direct drive flashlight.  Still far less chance of getting an IMR to vent and since many mods only take unprotected cells it's never a bad idea.

give it a go, I'm going to try my vamo on a 1.2ohm coil at 15w and 3.4v in the cell. tjis should really be a worst case scenario to be fair, but put it this way, I do regularly vqpe like that and a protection circuit hasn't tripped yet.....

Well, that is on a Vamo which has all kinds of circuitry in it for protection.  IMR cells are recommended for mechs when running sub-ohm coils, not just for general vaping.

yoy miss my point, in the vamo the circuit is boosting to get the wattage, which means higher current draw on the cell, as the cell depletes the current draw must go up to maintain the wattage hence the tailcap readings would be higher.

comoared to my private, my vamo hammers cells. ....

RE: anyone tried taking tailcap readings yet?
ok. on the private. Panasonic pd cell. 3.92v 1.4ohm atomiser. I got a tail reading of 2.1a.

it vapes brilliantly, but that's a long way away from the 5a I was told to expect, I'm certainly now not supprised the cell voltage has hardly dropped since I put the cell in lasr night, its hardly stressing the cell, 2.1a is not even 1c, I can hear the Panasonic laughing from here lol

you'll need about 0.6 ohms for 5 amps

Glad it's working okay though, sounds like fun Big Grin

This is a good tool for what you're playing around with

RE: anyone tried taking tailcap readings yet?
that is a good tool, my point still stands though.

the whole "you must use aw cells thing" is as wrong here as it is in torches, it just strikes me as dogma without evidence, we know for a fact that the only cells better than Panasonic pd's at holding voltage under load in an 18650 tube are samsung 20r's and you pay for that extra low resistance in considerably lower capacity.

Aw imrs are significantly behind the curve now, I'm not saying their bad cells, just that for the price, there are better alternatives, if you can get the damm things in your hands.

I will hopefully be picking up sone 20r's at weekend, my favourite local vape shop is waiting on a delivery.

I will resist buying another mod.......I hope......

I have run my Vamo with a 2.2 ohm clearo and an Xtar 3400 mah protected Li-Ion with no issues. Talk about vaping for around 20 hours
