Year of the Monkey
1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, and now 2016...

If you were born in any of those years, then you're a Monkey! (well technically, if you were born in Jan. or Feb. it could go either way, since the Chinese New Year starts on a different day, but if you were born any other month in those years you're definitely a Monkey)

I just found out (five minutes ago, thanks to my Google search to figure out which years were past Monkeys) that there are actually elements associated with the years as well: Fire, Wood, Water, Gold, Earth. So since I was born in 1992, I'm a Water Monkey, which means I'm "Smart, quick-witted, fond of being in the limelight, but haughty" (which is actually a damn good description of me).

Fun facts about being a Monkey:
  • For Monkeys, the 14th and 28th day of the month is your lucky day. (I was born on the 28th, so definitely lucky for me!!!)
  • 4 and 9 are lucky numbers, while 2 and 7 are unlucky.
  • Monkey years are considered bad luck for anyone born in a Monkey year, so 2016 could be a tough one, watch out!
By the way, I got all this information from this site which is fun to read if you've got a few minutes. I don't adhere to the Chinese zodiac (or any zodiac, for that matter) but I enjoy reading about it, and I'm proud of being a Monkey and a Libra, even if it really doesn't mean that much to me. So I figured this would be a fun off-topic post for any other Monkeys out there Smile

Oh and just for a bit of fun, here's some famous Monkeys:
  • Will Smith
  • Tom Hanks
  • Jennifer Aniston
  • Ted Kennedy
  • Harry S. Truman
  • Lyndon B. Johnson
  • Michael Douglas
  • Danny De Vito
  • Johnny Cash
  • Harry Houdini
  • David Copperfield
  • Susan B. Anthony
  • Leondardo da Vinci
  • Elizabeth Taylor
  • Eleanor Roosevelt
  • Rex Harrison
  • Julius Caesar
(list of famous Monkeys shamelessly stolen from this site)

RE: Year of the Monkey
I think I'm a Pig.. wish I'd been a horse instead of this fat chubby thing!

I suppose it's fitting though since the wife regularly calls me a pig.. normally a malechauvinist one... that must be a new breed.

Did you tell her to go back to the kitchen? (sorry, I couldn't resist)

PS - my life has been changed by realizing that I can use light grey to whisper Tongue

I actually am the pig (boar I think they call it to lessen the insult).

By the way, here's a couple off-colour jokes for ya...

What do you tell a woman with two black eyes? Nothing; you already told her twice.

Why is a watch a bad gift idea for the wife? Because there's a clock on the stove.
