RE: Would you use an ecig in a restaurant?
There are two sides to this issue, respect for others and the legal situation. As long as nobody else has any issues with you using an ecig in a restaurant then I don't think there is a problem. The main issue here is that many people do not understand ecigs and automatically think tobacco cigarettes - education of non-ecig users is the key to the future.

I know the politics have changed since this thread was vetted, but I'm still in favor of not vaping in public places from the respect viewpoint. I say anything that adds to the public perception of disdain should still be totally avoided.

Totally agree, public image of vaping needs improving where ever it can be!

 I came to the same conclusion after witnessing this first hand;
Someone smoking wacky backy in public had less impact than someone blowing a hench cloud Wacko yeah, the cloud guy was me Wink

I would not vape where there is food. I would vape in a pub while having a pint but have yet to find one that allows it. Vaping inside any public place is not allowed here - vaping still has a long way to go with regard to public perception and acceptance and I for one will stick by the rules - anything else will just antagonise the public we want on our side.

It helps that in the pub I spent a lot of time in last week that I ended up showing the landlord how to build and wick an atty.

Since the biggest crowd in there at all last week was me, the landlord and Rob the under-keeper. Who were the only people other than the landlord's wife who could actually get there.

It got quite cloudy

The landlord is also an excellent chef but I'd never vape while eating anyway. Nor would I vape near anyone else while they were eating.

RE: Would you use an ecig in a restaurant?
When I smoked and they implemented the state-wide "No smoking indoors at bars and restaurants" back home in Ohio, I was pretty livid. But after a couple months, I realized I actually preferred drinking and watching the game without cigarette smoke fusing with my clothes at the molecular level. When I moved to Texas back in 2010, it was the first time I'd been in a smoking bar in years and it smelled like I'd walked into a hot, wet ashtray; I couldn't believe I'd not noticed it before. Granted, vaping doesn't leave near a trace stench as cigs, but the thick clouds can be pretty disruptive, not to mention obstructive when you get a table full of vapers blotting out the TV screens. While most vapors smell relatively pleasant, I don't think it's any more fair to subject people to that than it is cig smoke.

There's no ‘I’ in ‘TEAM.’ There’s no ‘U’ either. It doesn’t appear the TEAM needs us, so let’s go grab a beer!Drinks

Generally, in public, I would never vape anywhere I wouldn't have smoked when I smoked...
