What's your favorite coil?
I realize it's a question that probably has no answer as it will depend on the device you are using and a host of other factors. However, overall when you build your own coils, what do you find gives you the best vape? Sub Ohm, double, single, tri, quad, chimney or something else I haven't found or mentioned. What gauge vaped at what wattage? This can become an interesting thread I think. It may give ideas to many. If you participate in the thread, try to include gauge  and type of wire, type of coil made, wicking, ohm/volts range used and how it performs, cloud and taste.

RE: What's your favorite coil?
I usually make coils in the 0.2 - 0.4 ohm range, though I have one device that needs at least 1.2 ohms before it will fire.

Everything below an ohm is dual coiled. I've never seen the point of more than two coils. More work, more hassle, no gain.

Everything is a macrocell, I don't do metal sculpture masquerading as a heating element. I'm happy with the results I get.

I usually use wire between 0.4 and o.8mm - 26ga-20ga

RE: What's your favorite coil?
After extensively testing every type and variation out there over the years i have come back to what always gives me the best flavor and thats a basic single coil between 1.2 and 1.8 ohm's on one of the better RBA's .   Wicking is the key to flavor , i don't see any difference between coil designs .

A basic coil vapes just as well as the more exotic coils to me , always has , as long as it's efficient and done correctly and wicked correctly.

I found out Phil Busardo is a flavor junkie and he strongly prefers to vape at under 15 watts on RBA's so i guess i'm on to something.  He has his choice and has tried everything on the market .

Innokin has done extensive testing with wattage variations and they will gladly admit that the reason they have been very late and never pursued high wattage devices is because they strongly believe the best possible flavor is achieved when vaping with ohm ratings closer to 2.0 than sub ohm readings.

After trying a few RDA'S with coils reading above 2.0 , actually around 2.4 ohm's i was thrilled at the flavor , i mean outstanding.

RE: What's your favorite coil?
Like you said, a lot of it depends on the atty and the power you're using. My favorite is a Dark Horse RDA on top of my Sigelei-100W with dual parallel coils, 6-7 wraps of 26ga kanthal at 2.5mm which ends up around .3 ohms or so. Run it at 69W (for the shits and giggles of the number 69) and it makes great clouds and tastes awesome.

RE: What's your favorite coil?
I've vaped eerything from .2 to 2.5 on several different tanks.  I *want* to say that my best vape is a simple setup and that Cman is right - because I largely agree with his postition - but I'd be lying. The quad-coil monstrosity I built in the SubTank RBA was amazing.  Incredible output, tons of flavor.  If it wasn't to time intensive to keep it wicked and if it didn't use so much juice, I would run that setup all the time.

1.3 nano (32ga, 6/5 around 1mm paperclip) on an ancient Anyvape Davide Mini with a 1100mah pen batt (pulls about 10 watts). I fill my tank 3x daily (only 3/4 full cuz it works better--don't care why). Of course 2 of the 3 base holes are drilled to 1/16" for max air for this miniscule unit.

RE: What's your favorite coil?
On a single battery tube mech mod my favorite is a very small atty with a single coil at around 1.2 oHm. That 1.2ohm will end up around 1.5 before I clean it up. This is with 28 gauge.

On a 100 watt Variable mod I build much larger dual coil builds and crank the watts up. I'm at about 2.5ohms on them and 35-45 watts depending on the time of day.

I have done sub-ohm but never really felt the need for it. But as you will soon see, there is no right answer. Well maybe there is a right answer and that is simply trying a bunch of ways until you find the one for you.

If the natural tendencies of mankind are so bad that it is not safe to permit people to be free, how is it that the tendencies of these organizers are always good? Do not the legislators and their appointed agents also belong to the human race? Or do they believe that they themselves are made of a finer clay than the rest of mankind?
