Yes - in California - there is a lake near where my son stays that has them - along with large mouth Bass.

Especially as they have some pack of piranhas behaviours. The subspecies found in Lake Malawi can and will attack humans.

Hi TW - as far as I am aware they don't breed in the UK  but have been introduced into some lakes in England where they can live for over a 100 years. There is a movement afoot to have them banned.

Too much hassle to get the meat off anything smaller. They taste pretty good in an appropriate Keralan curry. But as exclusively freshwater fish they can taste a bit muddy.

Here we get trout which tastes great but also has a lot of tiny bones. A pain to clean and cook.

If I remember correctly the pressure cooker was invented for canning salmon. Pretty extreme pressures were used to soften the bones enough. Similar issue to trout.

My favourite trout story happened in a Florida public aquarium where a rainbow trout got out of its tank into the next tank along. Which had a school of piranhas in it. Which the trout proceeded to kill and eat. All of them.
