RE: What did you get today?
I'm much the same. There's a couple of headlamps I use all the time and an Olight Baton 18650 which meets any needs I have for lots of light, 1050 ANSI lumens as I recall. The big lights are just too awkward to carry around unless you really need them.

I've only bought two lights this year and one last year.

I spend the money on vaping shiny instead Smile

RE: What did you get today?
I need a new torch for the winter - my main torch was over 20 years old but I dropped it and broke the glass - which was well scuffed anyway. I have 2 headlights from my night fishing days that are really good but a nice bright torch is good to have.

Among the actual titans of torches here on the forum, I am the last to ask. But that 5 pack I got that uses my old vape cells was a good price and they are ridiculously bright, zoomable.

RE: What did you get today?
I'd recommend something that takes 18650s. If it is made by Ultrafire/Fandyfire/Trustfire you don't want it. There are exceptions to that but something from Olight/MecArmy/Manker would satisfy. And be remarkably bright compared to anything with a bulb.

Folomov make lights as well as chargers. I kinda like the sound of this one using a Nichia 219D LED (Not as nice as the 219Cs but cheaper) the Folomov 18650S but it is a bit spendy in the UK. As in about double what I'd pay for it.

I just bought a Cometa which Spasmod has. It should tick all the boxes if Banggood still have any in their EU warehouse. I think it cost me 22 quid delivered. https://eu.banggood.com/Wholesale-Wareho...ds=myorder
That is plenty bright for most purposes. The downside is that I forgot it uses 26650 cells instead of 18650s so we'll move on. It is easy enough to make up an 18650 sleeve, it may even come with one. Spasmod will know as he's got one.

Or I could go through my bag of over 100 lights and find a nice 18650 light. I have over 100 lights knocking around and use maybe 6-10 of them - the huge ones rarely so I'll be able to find something suitable.

What will you be using it for - if you want to spot stuff at 3km you are going to have to spend serious money - hundreds and up.

But as long as I can light up a black dog at 200m in the park I'm good. I have quite a lot of lights that can do just that.

But one isn't enough...

But down that rabbit hole I'm not going just now.

If you want to dive down that hole there are quite a few enablers here, Skyray, Spasmod, myself and likely others. Just about all the folks who came here in the early days learned about this place on Budget Light Forum. Back in the day it was for lights that cost pocket money, these days it is more of a hang on to your wallet.

This is exactly why I do not need another torch. I like these, and I know they are relatively silly compared to yours, but I do NOT need to know why!!!!

Exactly!

I've bought or been given maybe six lights in the last 4 years. I have lights for just about any conceivable purpose and several for "Why would anyone want to do that?"

RE: What did you get today?
I would not want to spend more than about £20 on a torch - it is only for power cuts and such like. I don't want to ''disrupt'' my vaping budget[Image: smile.gif].

RE: What did you get today?
Not a problem. I'll dig out something suitable and bung it in the post. An 18650 light just makes sense given the number of those cells we all have. I have a couple in my hands that should do the trick.

I agree for normal use all you need is one that takes a 18650 battery most will give you to much light on full beam for what you want but all have a low beam as well that will last all night Smile Oi Don! i have a few ultrafires ect lol and most are quite good for general use unlike the battery's lol through i do go for the more expensive ones nowadays but then again it's more because i collect them than use them lol to me one i'm not to keen on for the price is the led lenser, i got the 7.2 one and didn't recon much of it so that's the only one i'll have but do like the ones you mentioned Smile
