RE: What did you get today?
I doubt this'll resonate with the non UK members but;

My car insurance cancelled Dodgy

Seems when you put your WORK VEHICLE no claims into the comparison websites in the appropriate box just as you should, insurers giving you the quotes don't read this, they just TAKE YOUR MONEY and then cancell the policy because they don't accept named driver company policy no discounts.. yeah, seems fair enough.

Mind you, when you go with a company called WE F**K YOU OVER what would you expect?

So now I've had a policy cancelled, obtaining a next one costs even more because of it, and I did nothing wrong to get here.

Just no words right now Angry

RE: What did you get today?
I have had that happen, in not quite the same circumstance.
When I messed my ankle up 6 or so years ago I was in and out of work for the better part of a year, kept missing my insurance payment by a few days. Missed it one time, got a call and paid it. About a week later got a check in the mail from them saying they no longer wanted me as a customer.... It was expensive to get anyone to take me after that. Finally I got it back down, $76 for full coverage on the Xterra, and liability on the GTI and Jeep Patriot.

Even if i could dive i'm in a state where auto insurance is not mandatory , not that it makes companies entirely on the level but it does leave you some options.

I thought auto insurance was mandatory in all 50 states, man that's not cool Chuck. Some clown can total your car and you're outta luck.

France has the same problem. While insurance is mandatory, many/most don't bother. As a result a friend of mine working in France in the early 80's was paying around $5000 a year for insurance. Which was around 20% of a new doctor's annual pay at the time.

RE: What did you get today?
Here, you can't register your vehicle without proof of active insurance. I guess you could cancel the policy and get it only when you need to renew or something, but it's a risk I definitely would not take. Big fines and loss of license are possible. Personally I like it. I'm not big on government intervention, but mandating liability auto insurance is a good idea.

Agreed entirely TW. But the French view of laws just isn't the same as yours and mine.

They can cook OK though. Or at least they have a solid reputation in the kitchen.

RE: What did you get today?
I'm heading there in September. Pity they insist on driving on the wrong side of the road.

I'll report back on the food.
