Putting Poo in a microwave and trying to hit it with a log, I think.

Welcome to the Clapton Club.  Once you know the difference, you can't unknow it.  Single strand coils will never be adequate again.

You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave...

(01-02-2018 12:59 PM)ecignut Wrote:  Hi Guys - I have just fitted gently's 316 Clapton in my new NarCa. By the time I had sorted out the legs to fit the posts it read 1.3ohms on the tab - when put on the mod it read 1.28ohm. I set it at 12.7W which is my usual for that resistance but ended up at 13.2 - so it is vaping about half a watt higher than my normal single wire coils and the ramp up time is slightly longer as well - but this is MTL so really doesn't matter. The amount of vapour is about the same as I normally get - the big difference is in the flavour. This tastes thicker and much stronger than my normal vape - I cannot believe that the type of coil used can make such a big difference. This difference is even more marked when I up the power - it reduces quite rapidly from 13.5W and below 13W so there is quite a small window of a sweet spot - this is exactly as it should be - it makes finding this spot much easier and quicker and there is no doubt about it either. Gently - if this one works they are all going to work - the flavour - which is the only important thing to me - is so much better I still can't believe it. Claptons are the way to go - gently's claptons anyway - good job and thanks again - I will report back on the others as and when.

I figured ramp up would be slower, thought a watt or so might compensate though. Glad your enjoying them so farFriends

The larger ones will require more power, could be not so good for mtl.. I'll order some thin gauges over the weekend, see if we can't make a propper mtl micro-fused clapton.

Love experimenting  Smile  I've learned a lot from it!
I'm surprised the vapour production isn't better, thought that might increase tbh, not so surprised the flavour is prominent, stainless is pretty good on that score.. until they become heavily oxidised or over-heated, then it's time to swap them out.
The wrap will aid wicking, sort of a mechanical aspect to the process, mtl has a much longer fire time, my dtl is usually about 3 maybe 4 seconds so it's cool to find out if the clapton concept carries over between styles..

RE: What did you get today?
MTL is in my way of doing it usually under 3 seconds. I only do longer draws when doing DTL.

Which I almost never do any more.

I see a lot of folks out and about trying to MTL on DTL only devices. As that is what the tattooed idiots in the vape shop told them they needed. They'd actually be far better off with an eGo / CE4 device and 18mg juice. Better still with 24 or 30mg juice but the idiotic TPD banned those.

They will all end up back on the stinkies as that just doesn't work.

Got the bill for the Assistant's passport.

That and the rabies vaccine didn't come cheap.

RE: What did you get today?
Not quite. My energy bills are pretty high. I pay about £1400 a year to heat and light the place.

About a month of energy would be around the same.
