RE: What did you get today?
Sounds like coils and wicks to me. You don't have to use them if you don't want to.

RE: What did you get today?
Hmm, seems they are pretty thin coils. I haven't seen that. And how about that rope style wicking? How is it compared to cotton?

RE: What did you get today?
It's silica. (AKA Glass fibre)

I used to use it exclusively - it is heat resistant enough to be dry burned.

I think I prefer cotton these days but there's nothing wrong with silica - in fact it is recommended by most of the big name custard makers.

RE: What did you get today?
Thanks Don. With this little bitty thin coil, am I going to have any issues burning it up? Any idea what safe wattage range will work? Sorry, I don't know the diameter or metallurgy, but it's like, super thin compared to the 26ga kanthal I have for reference. Looks to be at least half the diameter and it's very pliable.

RE: What did you get today?
I'd reckon as long as the wicks are wet you'd be OK into the 30W range. Just don't even think of dry burning the coils at that wattage.

RE: What did you get today?
They'll probably be higher resistance than I'd reckon was optimal though - I'd want to coil a Velocity in the 0.3 ohm range.

RE: What did you get today?
I built it with the 26ga kanthal and cotton that I know and understand. Compared to the Mad Hatter and 13 Heavans 9 Hells, the flavor is outstanding and much greater. I built it at .87 ohms, 12 turns of 26ga kanthal with the 3.0 ID wrap tool, dual coils. Wow, I mean, what flavor!

RE: What did you get today?
Glad you like it. These days I tend to use cotton in just about everything. Silica lasts a lot longer unless you gunk up your wicks but cotton is just easier to use. I tend to use 22 or 20 gauge wire in mine.

RE: What did you get today?
I find when built right the 13th heaven is excellent flavor. I also have the Velocity mini built at around .25 ohm. I prefer the 13th Heavens TBH. Just to mention what I got today - Nov. 10th. I have the new evic mini in tiffany blue. Went online and upgraded it - was tricky - had to change my system preferences. Then I purchased a TFV4 mini a few days ago. So I put the mini on my HCigar with the RBA pre-built clapton and took my bellus off the HCigar to put on my miniĀ  with a new purple and blue shorty swirl droip tip - gotta look good too. My wife went WTF - what are you buying now? So I told her I got it all in trade. Yes yes I'm a big fat liar. But I did get her spicey shrimp chips which she loves so she never pursued it.
