Looks like that rig has some potential. I will be impressed when you get it working. Good

Bob has some serious skills. I wish I were better with my hands. If I make a good ham sandwich, I'm lucky.

thanks guys :)you are making me blush Blush
anyone who is thinking of making a mod give it a go, it is just a lot of guesswork and a bit of perseverance
plus the back up from TVF when I don't know what to do next Good
if I can do it anyone can, I have very basic electrical knowledge and I had never soldered anything before I made my first pipe
the only reason my build threads look like I know what I am doing is because I don't post all the fuck ups I make Tongue

if at first you don't succeed ,call it version 1.0

I'm not too bad with wiring, as long as black is negative and red is positive. I have built several multirotors (Drones). I am not completely comfortable with series v parallel. In the RC hobby I know that if you have a 3 cell battery you can make it a 6 cell battery by putting two batteries together. Also if you have 2 3000mah batteries you can put then together and have 6000mah. Which is series and which is parallel?

RE: What did you get today?
First is series - increases voltage.

The second is parallel, increases capacity and amount of current deliverable. If the pack can deliver 100A, three of them in parallel can produce 300A if your wiring is thick enough - think 8 gauge or thicker.

So if I want to run a mod at lots and lots of watts, I need more amps which I can get buy using multiple cells in parallel. Or I can up the voltage by using cells in series to get more volts.

So a 3 cell mod in parallel could produce 60A at 4.2V = 252W. Or the same mod with the cells wired in series can produce 20A at 12.6V - also 252W though the resistance of the coils would be very different. For the cells in parallel we'd want 4.2/60 ohms = 0.07 ohms.

Or in series 12.6/20 = 0.63 ohms which would be a lot easier to measure and build.

For high current series builds it is vital that the cells be balance charged.

The cells in parallel will balance themselves but it is a good idea to have them close in voltage or very, very large currents will flow from cell to cell.

Great Don, makes sense. Thanks for the explanation. So. I have an airplane that needs a six cell battery. If I combine two 3 cell batteries that would be series?

RE: What did you get today?
Depends how you plug them together, but yes it is most likely series - you are doubling the voltage from 12.6V to 25.2V at full charge.
