Time for a massive class-action lawsuit I guess.  We've got to find a more effective way to fight the stupid.  :-(

Remind one liberal per day, that laws affect only the law-abiding.

RE: Well, it looks like we lost. Discuss.
"We" aren't the only losers here. Everyone is a victim of this stifling government, and this is one more example. The reason this went with so little fight is because it doesn't directly affect a large segment of the population, so everyone else was pretty indifferent. As a commenter on a story I read about it asked so prudently- "Exactly what tobacco products are these things using?" Great point, but so not the point at all. Of course they are in a completely different class from anything intended by the act they have been categorized into. Big Tobacco lobbied the corrupt government officials and this was passed without a whimper. Nero fiddles while Rome burns. Pockets are lined, favors are exchanged, and the public gets screwed again. And this time, of course, it's not just another government control issue, or a higher cost issue. They have effectively signed the death warrants of countless smokers who will lose this wonderful smoking cessation method.

If the nic is derived from tobacco they have a valid point... if it's not then there's no relation. Global rebrand of everything that's not a cigalike from ecig to vaporizer would help too.

That's a really big leap to take. Cigarettes are only regulated so tightly because they are known to contain many cancer causing substances- and nicotine is not one of them. Also, nicotine is not a requirement for vaping to occur. Regulate only the nicotine in that case...

So ridiculous. I just can't even think of a comeback for all this.

RE: Well, it looks like we lost. Discuss.
I' m still way too mad to discuss this objectively. Again, it's big tobacco+corrupt government=public gets screwed. Again. There was way too big of a vote swing to suggest anything other than a payoff. It reeks of it. The government must think we are too stupid to see what's going on, and that's just insulting. But the fight is not over by any means. Our good friend, Mr. Cole from Oklahoma, has control of some very large amounts of federal money, and is already moving to fight the ridiculous 2007 ruling with everything he has. He is not giving up, and neither should we. As for myself, I am not about to let them take vaping away from me and my family, we simply cannot afford to go back to the coffin nails, and I fear that is exactly what would happen. My wife is already in poor health, and vaping has been the only thing that has made a real difference for her. Her mom died from lung cancer, and I'm afraid she would go the same way. I'm not about to let that happen. I would gladly break the law with vaping, if it came to that.

And about the under 18 age limit. Nobody is arguing that, it's a good thing, and it's what the government actually wanted in the first place. They don't need to destroy a multi billion dollar industry and ruin hundreds of thousands of jobs to do it. That's what big tobacco wants, a monopoly, which is also illegal, and the stupid, corrupt government is is just letting it happen. They don't care who dies, as long as they can line their pockets first.

I for one am not about to give up. I'm a rebel by nature, and I simply cannot swallow being bullied by big money and rich idiot politicians that think they are smarter than the entire public and think they know what's good for them, when in truth they are among the stupidest people I have ever met, and I've met quite a few.

According to the ruling, vape companies have two years to submit their applications for either approval or to prove that their products are at least as effective as anything made prior to 2007, the latter of the two being the cheaper way to go, and another year for the FDA to review and rule on it. In this time period the companies are still allowed  sell their merchandise, so that means we have three years to buy stuff before things really change. Only the under 18 law takes effect in ninety days. so that means we have three years to accumulate as much stuff as possible. They are also thinking about restricting interstate commerce, which means mail order, I don't know for sure about it.

So if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go buy as much vape stuff as I can get my hands on and stuff my storm cellar with it, then build a fort around it and name it Ft. Kissmyass.

  Again, not giving up.

Ah, it's worse even than that. They don't think they've pulled the wool over our eyes; they simply don't care.

"FDA Announces Rule to Ban 99% of e-cigarettes"

After I read this thread I had to do some catching up on the news.  I read a few articles and wanted to scream.  I'm new to vaping, but I can tell you that I've not had a cig for two weeks, been vaping for six and having cig now and then.  That is a miracle I have not been able to pull off for 10 years.  It reminds me of the great saccharine scare in the 70's.  My mother was terrified there would be no more Sweet and Low so she bought over 500 bottles of the stuff.  I think she still has some.

Being new to vaping, and hopeful it will help me stop smoking for good, feel panicked by this ruling.  I don't want to smoke any more, it's nasty and expensive.  My spouse complains about the smell and I get little burn holes everywhere.

I agree with all the posters that Big Tabaco lobbyists earned their blood money.  Vaping is a personal choice and not hurting anyone.  It's not like getting stone and driving or shoving second hand smoke to your kids.  Shame on them.
