The math is spot on.

. W = 8.4V * 8.4V / 0.42Ω
. W = 70.56 / 0.42Ω
. W = 168

I guess instead of learning and calculating all of the math, I simply paid attention here and followed simple guidance from the experienced members. (so I would remain safe but also get the best positive vaping experience)

a. I made sure I have the best batteries I could get for a mech mod;
b. I made sure to build above 0.4 ohms; and
c. I made sure to keep my gear in perfect working condition. (I inspect all of my non-reg gear each and every time I change batteries)

I did a similar thing, learned the lowest possible resistance then built. I look at things from a different perspective than most as I'm no mathematician or electronic engineer.. I do use electricity to heat metal for a living though Big Grin

Exactly. You use a regulated mod and depending on how you build your coils, your airflow, your VG ratio, your wicking a .3 ohm coil can be vaped at many different temperatures. I've used a .35 ohm coil on my mech series mods. No fountain was needed. I have a .1 ohm spaced claptons set up on my Phenotype L. I have the atty set so half of one of four slits is open. I'm vaping it at 55 watts. And it vapes fine. It sits atop my tiffany blue evic as my stealth vape. I have a feminine side.

RE: Wattage
Currently I use all my mods on a regular basis. Pico in the car. IPV5 for dipping and IPV6 with the Crown. I think I've found my spot on all of them. I vape between 35 and 55 watts. Since I'm using all of them I keep them clean. I do need to put some wraps on my batteries however. There are no fountains available in my neck of the woods.

Skasta, as long as you take care of you batteries nothing should blow up. Get battery cases, they are about 50 cents. This also helps keep them married.

ALL: is there a good post to link to regarding battery safety?

RE: Wattage
basically i look at coil builds like plumbing , a 4" pipe can handle a whole lot more water than a 1/2 pipe . on the same token 24g kanthal can handle more current than 28g . but to great a current creates stress and at some point something has to give .
a 30g 1/2 ohm coil will give near instantly at 30w , but a 26g coil is more than capable of handling 30w , this is where amps come into play ( like water presure in the above pipes ) the greater the force the greater the strain .
though diffent elements and mathematics , the science and theory are quite similar.
in this scenario the batteries are comparative to the pump , you can build a pipe line capable of handling the current and presure , but if it exeeds the capabilities of the pump then the pump will rupture . the same goes for coil builds , if the wattage and amps exeed maxinum voltag then the batteries fail and will vent or rupture.

I'm sitting here with 4 mods on the go - today it's the SMPL 2.0 with Tsunami, NC with Ind RDA @ 0.72, Sig 213 with TFV8 @ 123W and HW G2 with Cleito 120 @ 111W.

3 of 4 mods are from The Angry Canadian collection...Hey Paul, done with the NCII? Smile
