Volt drops
Got some new cells today so thought it'd be interesting to see how they compared on the same mod and arty. And, as it happens, a frankly mental Prometheus clone arrived today. Respect to Gords! It's around 0.2 ohms, my Vamo calls it 0.3 my trustworthy meter awaits my picking up some 9V batteries on my way to work tomorrow. So we'll pass on a precise resistance and just call it very, very low.

I got some LGDBHE2 2900mAh IMRs (I believe these are the cells inside the wrapper on the purple Efests) from Ecolux shop on eBay. And some Samsung INR 18650-15M cells. And I already had a pair of Sony VTC4 cells and a pair of Efest IMR 1500mAh.

So lobbed one of each in the charger and let's go. Might as well measure current while I'm at it. Given that I've "put in a safe place" my fat copper leads, this will be with stock decent meter leads so the current values will be low. However, the drop should be the same for each so the differences ought to be meaningful.

Cell          No Load        Prometheus        Drop              Current
LG             4.17V            3.86V             0.31V               11.15A/43W
Sony          4.16V            3.89V             0.27V               11.11A/43.2W
Samsung    4.16V            3.86V             0.30V               11.02A/42.5W
Efest          4.17V            3.68V             0.49V               10.41A/38.3W And 3 months ago I thought 15W was a lot Smile

These results weren't what I expected as a quick test with a much higher resistance (1.5 ohm) atomiser put them in the order above with the LG dropping 0.09V, the Sony 0.1V, the Samsung 0.12V and the Efest 0.13V. But those differences are probably inside the error boundaries.

I've now stuck a 4" drip tip on the Prometheus. Otherwise it's a fiercely hot vape. Even with that, with the air holes wide open, I can't do lung hits on it but the clouds are impressive even with them mostly closed.

RE: Volt drops
I really thought those lg's would whup the sonys ass. Still they'll still be vaping when the sonys are back in the charger.

Glad your happy with the coils, I worried I'd gone too far, but thought wth he'll get a laugh out of it if nothing else. Just dont let those wicks get too dry..... I wish I'd got video of that.....

RE: Volt drops
I've heard a lot lately about Efest cell being a load of crap and your results here are definitely highlighting that. In fact Johnny bought a couple of Brand new Efest's and one of them failed completely in just a few days iirc.

I'll never buy Efest cells personally.. it's either Sony or Samsung for me Smile

PS.. thanks for the test results Don Good

RE: Volt drops
I like the capacity on those lg cells. I'd drop .04 of a volt for that. And their all being pretty hammered by those coils. I wouldn't want it any lower tbh

RE: Volt drops
Yeah - look at the (lower than actual) amps!

The Efests are my oldest IMRs, the Sonys are a couple of months old, and the LG and Samsung cells were on their first charge. I think the Panasonic equivalents are pretty good too.

RE: Volt drops
Be interesting to see if the LG's and sansungs bed in after a few charges.

What I do like is the capacity vs current limit of the LG's.

RE: Volt drops
Yes, within a hair of the VTC4s but 45% more capacity. One of those ought to do me all day. One VTC4 doesn't.
