Vaping and flying
At work today I was asked about getting a ecig for someone going to Australia as she finds the flight a bit nightmarish.

Does anyone know how the airlines are reacting to vaping? My guess is a flat ban, either for the "smoke" or if they are a little more sophisticated, the lithium batteries. If the latter one is stuffed, if the former than there's always the toilets.

But if anyone knows I'd like to hear.

And does anyone know if the Australians will let consumer quantities of nicotine solutions in? I think I read somewhere that they didn't.

About to do a bit of Googling to see what I can find out.
Edit:
Well BA won't allow their use in aircraft but i suspect nobody would ever know if used in the toilets.
Seems that you can't buy nicotine containing liquids in Australia but can import them for personal use.

Yeah you've hit the nail on the head I think Don.

I think they're banned on all commercial aircraft and Australia like you said don't allow Nic based juice to be sold within the country. There's not much to add to that hehe Smile

I can't offer any advice either.  Even if they allowed you to use it on board it would be a major hassle with passengers seeing it and complaining the whole time to both you and the attendants that you were "smoking".  The only place I'd feel comfortable vaping on a plane would be the bathroom.

I found that when I try to ship Lipo batteries, they are not permitted on aircraft. They have to be shipped by ground. Not sure if this is relevant.

Wow.  I'm surprised they didn't make him check that, just for the fluid PERIOD, never mind what was in it.

They don't care about liquids as long as their under a certain amount. That's why if you have travel sizes of hairspray toothpaste etc etc it's allowed. I did take the batteries out of the God Mod and put them in plastic baggies. They even let lighters through now which after 911 they didn't. Guess also it could depend on the TSA rep checking and how they feel for the day.
