Ultrasonic Cleaner?...
Any thoughts on them, anyone use them, Pros/Cons, recommended brands and models?

Feeling like it is time to purchase one as the atomizer collection grows and our kitchen counter becomes littered with tanks and drippers that have mystery juice sitting in them that my nose can no longer identify.

RE: Ultrasonic Cleaner?...
I've never had the need for anything more than a hot bath, but I'm sure those things work too.

Personally, I am more of a shower guy myself... anyway, how do you feel about ultrasonic cleaners for atomizers?

RE: Ultrasonic Cleaner?...
Sometimes I shower with them, if we both need cleaning at the same time. An ultrasonic cleaner may feel kinda weird.

If I unsrew all my limbs and bits, I think I can fit in an ultrasonic with one tank.

I don't have one yet but I'm kind of in the same boat as you, thinking it may be time for one.

RE: Ultrasonic Cleaner?...
I know some folks use them, I've looked at them more out of curiosity than anything...

When I strip down an atty, I will occasionally soak it in alcohol (HP) but that is rare, more often than anything I will run it under warm/hot water and maybe soap if really gunky...not often as one can expect, being OCD and all.... Tongue

RE: Ultrasonic Cleaner?...
Well heck if a hot water bath is good enough for FB and his OCD then I will probably just stick with a hot water bath occasionally Smile

RE: Ultrasonic Cleaner?...
I've got one and use it extensively. They work - well apart from the cheap crap. If it is battery powered you are wasting your time and money.

I first used 2kW ones to clean glassware in a lab. They were very effective but putting your hand in them when operating was contra-indicated as they'd strip the flesh off your bones quite fast.

I'd say avoid anything that doesn't tell you how much power is going into the transducer. You don't need a large tank, around 500ml capacity will be fine for anything I'd want to clean in it. Mine does 30 and 50W into the transducer and works for me.

TVF tested battery info to be found here

RE: Ultrasonic Cleaner?...
I use a small 600ml bath and it works fine. Do I need it? Maybe not but for what it cost it adds another level of cleaning and removes crap in places it would be difficult to get at with some tanks.

I work on the basis that if you are going to clean something, make a good job of it Smile
