Thought vaping would be a lot different
I am new to vaping and I got into it because I thought would be different and I could do it anywhere. I will admit I wasnt a very nice smoker. I smoked cigars that I loved and just couldn't believe that someone wouldn't want me setting next to them puffing away. I believed a lot different than most people do. I believe that if someone is doing something I don't like I am the one that leaves so I thought everyone should follow my example. I would get down right rowdy when asked to put my cigar out. That was why I started vaping so I could do it anywhere and now I am shut down once again. I enjoy vaping and will continue to do so. I behave more with my vape than I ever did with cigars. I don't want to damage the movement and get vaping banned any more than it is.

It'll take a while to educate TPTB and the public, but once they realise that Vaping signifies the death of burnt Tobacco rather than a gateway, they may be more receptive.

As with any culture changing phenomenon, there's always a high level of disdain before acceptance Good especially when it represents a more than significant loss of government income Tongue

RE: Thought vaping would be a lot different
I grew up believing the same way that you did. It took a few years of having non-smoker friends grumbling at me to realize that I wasn't always right. Started vaping a few months back, and occasionally hit my vape unconsciously at a restaurant or in a store. I've only had one store employee say something to me, and I realized what I was doing and apologized. Other than that, I tend to try my best not to cause problems for the vaping community in general. If I act in a respectful manner in regards to my vaping, people will tend to view vapers in a better light.

I would never go back to smoking. Vaping is so much more appetizing all the way around.

RE: Thought vaping would be a lot different
I see it like this: yes, vaping is technically allowed in most places even where smoking wasn't, but many non-smokers are still incredibly unreceptive to it because of the biased media and idiot politicians. I was vaping in a restaurant one day and a parent got pissed at me, saying they sat in a non-smoking section so their kids wouldn't be exposed to "those cancer sticks" etc etc and I realized that even though I CAN do something doesn't mean I SHOULD. So I vape when I'm in my car or at home or in a bar, but I keep it put away when I'm in non-smoking places.

Hopefully someday soon the world will realize that there are no negative effects of vaping and will be more tolerant, but for now we need to make as good an impression as possible so we won't give the other side more ammo for mudslinging.
