RE: Slug Mod Clone
My problem with the slug is that if I got one, I'd want to woodburn it and put some cool designs in it... But I'm not skilled enough at woodburning so I'd screw it up. So I'm not buying a slug until I have practiced woodburning more. Lol

RE: Slug Mod Clone
I've been looking at reviews one after the other to see if I could find ONE REALLY GOOD one. I think I did too, the clone by SHENXI. (US orders)
After seeing all these reviews, this mod seems to cover all the bases that were cons in the many reviews I saw. If you want it.. Here it is, come and get it.

ENJOY!

The only real cons I've heard of regarding any of the clones is the lack of adjustable center pin and shorter screws than the original to hold the ends to the wood.

The adjustable pin issue is a non-issue as it's usually simply a case of the pin fitting too snugly in the delrin insulator to slide freely. Remove the pin and lightly sand the hole for the pin so it slides freely without falling out. Problem solved. I've had other mods that did the same thing. Easy fix.

The screws is really a non-issue as well. If you don't like it, go buy longer screws at the hardware store for pennies.

What I really like is that copper version! They are hard to come by and I LOVE my copper mods! I might have to order one of those in copper.

RE: Slug Mod Clone
Looks like a good price on a good clone, I'll probably pick one up after New Years. I've spent too much on hardware this year lol

The Cons that I was made aware of this morning, are that on the clone, the attys don't fit flush, on the authentic, the battery plug (plastic screw in) sometimes protrudes, unless you remove the spring. Check this site out, (http://rbavapor.com/xcart/mechanical_mod...enxi.html) It just seemd prudent to me that paying the extra 5-10 bucks and getting somthing that is promised to cover all the bases would be better by far than getting something that is "almost right".
I'm sure, if I get one, I will get the other. I'm researching how to mimic the Kamagong texture and color in stain now. It would be a very flat color, with little to no luster to it other than the depth of the finish itself. I think that teal color on 420's vid is really cool! I may even go with Philippine mahogany, and just give it 3-4 good coverings, then wipe it down with a very light coat of furniture polish, or Old English. Nothing withstanding, it is a very unique piece! I wonder if its been real heavily clear coated. I like a piece that has a patina, and .. The patina is a good way to prod yourself to clean and service it.

Onward.. through the Fog!

RE: Slug Mod Clone
Good point Phoenix, by having a mod that needs cleaned regularly you force yourself to clean it regularly. I can't remember the last time I stripped and cleaned my SS Panzer or Nemesis, because I don't notice them getting dirty so I forget about maintenance.

Brass, and I'm LOVIN' it!! Hits like a mule's kick. Easily the hardest hitting mod I own. Amazing! Floating pin fits all my atties flush. Battery cover in base is flush. None of the issues I've heard of reply. All you have to do is watch Twisted420's comparison of the clone to the real Slug and you will see what an ignorant twit he is and what little he really knows about how mods work, in particular, the Slug. It gave me a good laugh when I saw it a couple weeks ago.

The camera flash in the pic above makes the rough grain section really stand out more than it does in person. Easily fixed.

The wood is pitted and rough in one or two areas on the one half but will be easy to correct. For just a tick over $33 shipped it's a hell of a mod! I'll do a proper thread on it soon.
