Seems like fast charging might not be good for lithium cells.

Seems like fast charging might not be good for lithium cells.
Read this and thought it might be of interest. Thing is, the sort of discharge rates we vapers use at high watts aren't good for cells anyway so it might be a wash.

Before eggheads can begin to think of improving lithium-ion batteries, however, they need to understand the exact mechanism that leads to degradation.

Certainly as the comments say, irradiating the cell with pretty high energy (short wavelength required for the resolution) X rays probably isn't that good for the cell either. I imagine they were using lithium polymer plastic bag cells.

One of the commoner failure modes is lithium metal plating out on the cathode (do I mean anode, I can't remember) then forming whiskers that, in common with most rechargeable cells, the puncture the layer separators.

AFAIK there is no tin in lithium cells. Though there is cobalt in ICR cells and manganese in IMR cells.
