RE: Really Cool Coil Video
I found about a foot of twisted 26 I had, so my first fused clapton will be that way. What's to be gained by twisting the core prior to the clap-wrap, anyway?

RE: Really Cool Coil Video
The idea is that twisted wire collects juice in between the wires, which gives it more juice to vaporize than just the wire touching the wick. So twisted wire is better for flavor than normal coils. Then the Clapton wrap also collects more juice, so combining the two makes the coil have tons of little pockets of juice that seep into it, which makes it produce strong flavor. Fused Claptons are basically parallel coils with an extra strand of thinner wire to collect the juice, so the main point of fused vs normal Claptons is to lower the resistance so you can use more power. Using twisted wire instead of parallel should theoretically give better flavor by letting more juice seep into those little pockets. At least, that's the theory as I understand it. I haven't had much luck with twisted core fused claptons myself.

Well, I literally have nothing to lose so I'll see how it goes. I don't use the twisted 26 anymore anyway since I've become endeared to the twisted 24, so this coil is just sitting around collecting dust and thinking about how cool it could be someday. I'll give it a go. At least I'm using a regulated mod so I have that going for me. No massive explosions forthcoming (except flavor, I hope).

Twisted Clapton are higher resistance and have a smaller footprint.
Two twisted cores is nice Biggrin

Doesn't that get horribly bulky?

Depends on the gauge. I made a FC with two twisted core wires, I think it was 30g flattened zippers or something like that. Turned out pretty nice, and not any bigger than a 26g FC (actually I think it was smaller).
