RE: Really Cool Coil Video
OK. And I'll ask the same question I always ask. What improvement will I see over my twisted 24?

Coils are for the large part to taste. There's only an improvement if you notice it.

Imo twisted 24 is better than a clapton but not even close to a fused clapton!

OK, fused clapton. Another world I have to look into.

RE: Really Cool Coil Video
In my opinion, Claptons should be made with 30g or smaller. 26/30 is pretty good, and a lot easier to work with than 34g wraps, so I'd say getting some 30g is a good place to start. Then try a FC using parallel 26g core 30g wrap, then when you're feeling adventurous try making a 26/34 fused clapton. The finer gauges work better but are harder to work with, that's why I say start with 30g then work your way down.

Mike likes to make smaller coils, that's why he uses 34-44. My eyesight isn't good enough for that fine of wire, I use a magnifier and still have trouble with 38.

I use 30g as core wires in my rta fc's! Haha

I agree, thicker wire is easier Clapton to start off with, but use it as a means to an end..  thinner gauges give much better vapour and faster ramp up.

I watched it. And I loved it. I can so totally do that. So, how about 24 as the core and 34 as the outer then? That's what I have, so that's pretty much what I'm going to build.

RE: Really Cool Coil Video
Be a cool kid like me and Mike, twist the 34 before making the FC Wink it'll be a bit easier to wrap since it's thicker, and it'll have awesome flavor.

You'll probably only be able to make a single coil with 24g FC, if you try to make dual coils it'll be hard to fit in the posts and even if you can get it in there, the resistance will be super low, since it's basically a parallel 24g coil.

RE: Really Cool Coil Video
You'd be better off using your 26g as the core, but the 24g would work.
