RE: Ready for next step after ecig
Congrats on the new setup Good

As to the power, I'd start low and gradually crank it up to where you feel comfortable Smile

Imo 30w is too high for the coil, while it may work with no dry hits it's not going to last long.

Don't forget to apply for the freecycle section!

RE: Ready for next step after ecig
So I setup the device, couldn't wait. Primed the coils by dropping a few drops on each air hole, filled the tank, took some dry hits with power off to help pull fluid into the coil, put on the device, set to 13 (seems to be a recommended wattage 13-14 watts) watts and voila, pretty darn good.

I did notice the drip tip got a little warm, not sure if that is normal. Also set the air flow holes to a semi restrictive setting to mimic a more analog like experience. If open to much way to air and little vapor.

Also locked the setting so I would not by accident jack it up and burn the coil.

I am leaving the device untouched until I get back to work Thursday so I can show my coworkers how to setup their mod.

Sounds like you've done well Smile That's probably a good range for the coils, like Mike said they probably shouldn't go as high as 30W no matter what they say. I always lock the wattage when I find good settings so I don't accidentally mess it up, good call there. The drip tip getting warm isn't anything to worry about, it's just conducting the heat from the coils. If it gets too hot to comfortably vape, then just set it down for a few minutes.

RE: Ready for next step after ecig
Thanks feels great to finally get my first mod Smile

I'll leave it at 13W for now and maybe dial back a tad to maybe 11 or 12.

Thank you all for all your help, I might have a few more questions for one guy at work who wants to try the TC option on the mod but that will be later in the week. I advised him to start in VW mode but people will be people.

Funny how I keep researching mods even though I just got it today, hahaha. There are so many nice options out there.

I refuse to get shiny-itis LOL.

I for sure can see trying new tanks in the future.

Coil longevity wise, I hope I can get around two weeks or so but time will tell.

Lol good luck with that. We all said that at one time or another. There's just too many beautiful shiny things, and there's always something better than what you have at the moment. I'm finally content with my collection, now that I have a top-of-the-line DNA 200 mod and a gorgeous RDTA, but I'm sure soon I'll be wanting a new RDA and eventually there will be a better mod than mine, etc etc.

To true. In the beginning I was going to be forever happy vaping MTL and my IPV5. One month in, had to get a DTL tank, then a second kit as a back up. Then another tank for it. Then a total shinyitis breakdown, and bought an IPV 6x when it came out. In the middle of all that I decided to make my own juice. So there was the set up and continuing purchase of new flavors. Now it's baby steps to the world of building. So good luck and stick to it.

kero, good luck with that! 7 months ago I started with as ASPIRE pen- weeks later went to the iStick mini (similar to your new mod) - I too thought I was set for the long haul.... was and am.....sorta --- then upgraded from the Nautilus Mini and needed more wattage...a few mods later and then the series mods, from sub-ohm tanks, RDAs, RTAs, RDTAs, etc..... accept shiny-itis and you'll be fine - fight it - and eventually you'll accept it - it is only logical - accept it! Smile

RE: Ready for next step after ecig
shiny-itis is avoidable! Good
I have settled in with my rig. I got my Sigelei 150 watt mod AFTER the Sigelei TC controls came out. I did not want TC and had to call around to different shops to find its predecessor. Finally found a guy who had one, and he sold it to me at a discount because he was glad to be rid of it. I know I will never NEED anything with higher wattage. Also, I agree with Don, with his concern posted in the battery section about any mod over 150 Watts being to much of a load on 2 18650s. I also love my TFV4 tank...it's all I need...will save my funds for e-juice and coils when needed.

RE: Ready for next step after ecig
I believe you - that is roughly what I said 2 years ago --- and 12 mods 4 RDA's 1 RDTA and 7 tanks ago, and wire and wicking and coil jigs and tweezers and scissors and chargers and batteries and 2 Squonkers and 2 bf RDA's --- better stop there - I need a vape[Image: tongue.gif]. Oh I forgot to mention juice making gear and...

RE: Ready for next step after ecig
So peeps, have been enjoying the mod Smile

Quick question, I am starting off with the 1.2ohm coils and tried a few DTL hits. Seemed just fine, didn't think I would like it but I kinda do.

So, will taking DTL hits on a 1.2ohm coil reduce it's life. Currently vaping at 13W.

I do have the 0.15ohm coils which I will use down the line, those obviously can be used at higher power.

You guys are away ahead of me lol. I don't think I have the funds to go big and honestly, I'm okay with that.

Like I said I can see experimenting with different tanks and I already see top fill is the way to go in the future. Every time I fill from the bottom, I have to reset my air flow, ugh.
