Purified Water For Vaping
So is Asda selling the right stuff, Tesco too

The more you research this stuff the less you know, companies selling a Distilled water and going on to describe the process, which then sounds like purified water.

Coca-Cola is selling the stuff at Tesco and Asda as Glacéau Smartwater

Quote:Dasani Pure Water
It was hailed as ‘pure’ when it was launched in Britain a decade ago and advertised as having been through a ‘highly sophisticated purification process’.

But Coca-Cola’s first attempt at bottled water turned out to be a disaster, after it was forced to recall all 500,000 Dasani bottles when it emerged it was in fact glorified tap water.

Who do you believe these days, sells distilled water, but describes the process used in making purified water.

So what water are you using in your e-liquid if at all. I ask because sometimes the mix is very thick, other than more PG perhaps adding purified water may be the answer?

Quote:Purified water is water that has been mechanically filtered or processed to remove impurities and make it suitable for use. Distilled water has been the most common form of purified water, but, in recent years, water is more frequently purified by other processes including capacitive deionization, reverse osmosis, carbon filtering, microfiltration, ultrafiltration, ultraviolet oxidation, or electrodeionization.

Whose to say that the stuff you put in your car battery or steam iron isn't good enough for vaping, they don't all handle it badly, and a lot sounds purified. Perhaps purification has gone mad, purified water 20 years ago isn't anything like today's standard.

Where do you buy it from if you do?

Thanks

Selling cut-able water and air with a bite texture is the dream of all manufacturers. Bottled water is pretty close to that dream.

Just boil your water and then make your flavour. Unless your water is a very very hard grade.

RE: Purified Water For Vaping
Here is a list of just a few of the chemicals routinely added to our water supply

Liquified chlorine
Fluorosilicic acid
Aluminium sulphate
Calcium hydroxide
Sodium silicofluoride

Even if it starts off clean, it may travel though pipes that's been in the ground since Victorian times. Time to buy a TDS meter?

Well, no harm done using purified water, and if its cheap then why not buy it

I wrote an email to that distilled water company, this is what he said;

Quote:Hi John,

Just to clarify. Purified water is ANY water that has been 'made purer' -
this can be achieved in a number of ways e.g. Distilling, RO, DI, or even
simple sediment filters.

A better benchmark is the actual purity in parts-per-million of total
dissolved solids. In this case, our distilled water has only 1ppm, whereas
RO has around 40ppm and DI around 30ppm and filtered water as high as
400ppm. So our distilled water is the best 'purified water' you can buy.
So there you go, perhaps not as the shipping charge is too high Total £8.50 1L

Best to go for distilled - or get sterile purified water from the nearest pharmacy.

I already asked my local pharmacy (Lloyds) but as usual they don't have it, or white vinegar (Cleaning not distilled) or ammonia, or 100ml glass bottles... Oh they have a good range of plasters..

Its not good in our city anymore, Wilko is about the only place left with some of the things.

How about a cheap ebay tester, near enough?

Probably not much use - I used to test wastewater for a living...

Yes, instrumentation has improved in the last 30 years but not that much.

Simplest way is just to check the conductivity. And visually check clarity.

B&Q or Halfords will be able to sell you distilled water for topping up car batteries.

RE: Purified Water For Vaping
Just came across the meter having did a search after getting that email. I agree it may not be very accurate, but comparing before and after a filter, samples of bottle water, it could be useful to see if there are large swings in the readings.

Ha ha, already have gallons of that distilled water, I wont be vaping.. or drinking that

RE: Purified Water For Vaping
I use a ZeroWater water filter. It removes chlorine, fluoride, and basically any other impurities in water, and comes with a tester so you can check to be sure it has zero particles in it (hence the name). I use it for drinking water because I'm a conspiracy theorist and believe that fluoride is put in the water to make the population complacent for a government takeover, but that's beside the point. It makes the water clean, and that clean water could be used for vaping. There are other good filters too, you especially want one that says "reverse ionization" as this removes more contaminants like chlorine and fluoride.

Ion exchange resins only get you so far - as does reverse osmosis. Can't beat a properly operated still.

And said still can also be converted for other uses, amirite? Wink
