OHM reading keeps changing while vaping
Hello Vapers,

So I have been using my switcher mod with an RDTA tank for almost a year now with no problems. Yesterday I wicked my coils and the mod/tank started acting funny. After every puff, my mod asks if i had a new load (coil) and then it keeps on changing the OHM while I'm vaping.

Any idea what could be wrong and how to solve it?

Thankss

Hi fara - welcome to the forum. If you have just re-wicked I would check that the coil legs are still tightly secure in the posts - it sounds like a connection problem.

I checked that all is tightly in place and no coil end touching,, no problem with that! could it be a problem with the mod or the tank itself?

It could be there is some dirt in the 510 connector. I'd check the base of the tank and the socket on the mod where the tank screws in. A cotton bud is good for cleaning in there.

TVF tested battery info to be found here

RE: OHM reading keeps changing while vaping
Can you tell us how much the Ohms are fluctuating? Thanks to the temperature coefficient of resistance, metals change their resistance in differing degrees of temperature. If you have a stainless steel coil, for instance, resistance will vary widely depending on the temperature.

In other words, you may be seeing normal resistance changes along the temp scale and not an issue at all.

*Scratch that... the mod would not be asking you if you have a new coil every time. You have a loose or dirty connection somewhere, or the mod was given an accidental juice bath and the board is fouled.

OHMs are fluctuating considerably I believe. one time it would read 0.22 which is the actual resistance for my coils, and other times it would read as 0.47. I'm using nickel coils.

Could it be a leakage issue? I cleaned my tank bottom and mod top just a while ago and nothing has changed.
Although I'm not seeing juice leakage, but maybe I need to unscrew all my tank parts and put it together again (perhaps change the rubber rings as well)

that's what I exactly have done a while ago.. a cotton bud and cleaned those parts, but sadly with no luck Sad

Your coil is not screwed down properly or your leads are too long and touching something. Had a guy at the vape store yesterday with the same problem. We tightened the 510 pin first then cut one lead a bit and tightened down all the screws.

I actually just unscrewed all coils. Screwed them again tightly and cleaned all tank parts properly..
I also changed the tank rubber rings (I think some sort of a leakage could have been happening, though I couldn't see any juice on the mod) and now its giving one ohm reading only. Tomorrow I can tell if this has worked out or not as I tried it for few minutes and now its charging.. fingers crossed

Thanks for the help everyone Smile
