RE: Noob Geezer
Hi and welcome Avatar from another old git. Though younger than you Tongue

I really wouldn't worry about aluminium vapour release from Kanthal wire as every electric heating device you have ever come across has Kanthal (or equivalent non-proprietary alloy) heating elements. If the stuff were harmful, it would already have killed millions of people. It hasn't..

I'm not worried about killing..  I could handle death.. death is easy.

I just don't want to be feeble or decrepit from reduced brain function.  I have read reports blaming the huge increase in Alzheimers and Dementia on this very topic.

Your probably not wrong either Confused

The surface of ally is passivated chemically by air. The al3o2 is the only bit most folk will ever encounter. While welding I have to penetrative through it, then, when I'm finished ill be sanding and handling it. I'll have way more ally in me than I should..

No mention of kanthal in particular, but there are many many references to the dangers of aluminum oxides and salts.

RE: Noob Geezer
The aluminium hypothesis for Alzheimer's Disease is out the window some time ago - the interest seems to be in a couple of proteins, beta-amyloid and tau.

The aluminium buildup is more to do with failure of transport mechanisms I am told.

Atavar, please thank your doctor for me. My doc thinks vaping is as bad as smoking, which is about what I get from the rest of the medical community. If only more doctor's could look into it as a successful alternative to smoking and not just get tied up in the propaganda, maybe we'd have a healthier America.

I don't know that he thinks it is healthier, I suspect he just sees it as a lesser evil for a hopeless addict, which may well be the closest thing to the truth.

The problem is that with their oath I don't think that recommending a lesser poison to replace a greater poison is considered ethical.
