I'm not trying to confirm or debunk this, just always like to mention that I turn a hairy eyeball on articles that begin with "The Truth Behind"... they usually tend to have bias. Again, didn't read it, just making an observation.

RE: No more ceramic coils for me.....
I just read through that, and while it does sound a bit biased (Uwell doesn't make ceramic coils, and they're testing ceramic coils from other manufacturers to show why Uwell doesn't make them), it does make some good points. For anyone who doesn't want to read the whole thing, the tl;Dr is basically "ceramic coils make tiny ceramic dust particles that you'll inhale, which can scratch your throat and/or cause silicosis."

I don't know if it's true or not, but I'd rather not risk it. The pictures look pretty compelling, and I like my rayon well enough anyway.

RE: No more ceramic coils for me.....
Not convinced. i have not used and probably never will use these but that is on grounds of cost and not being able to tailor them to my taste.

Firstly the particles they are showing are rather too large to get into the lungs.

Secondly, some of the stuff is plain wrong. Why would the ceramic having a higher melting point than the coil inside it cause it to crumble? this simply doesn't make sense. What I suspect they mean is that the materials have differing thermal coefficients of expansion.

"Many impurities can be seen at a magnification of 100X from a microscope and they appear as black spots. The glasslike particles are not uniform and appear to be uneven and chaotic. The tiny glass pieces have sharp surfaces that can scratch the trachea and alveoli when used. The black spots could also be unrefined toxic material that could have impurities."

Of course they do! Juice residues anyone? They are porous after all - that's the point of sintered ceramics.Undoubtedly inhaling powdered glass is not good for you. But I doubt many (if any) particles that are large enough to do damage actually get as far as the lungs.

And as for the cancer bit, you are talking nanoparticles for that - not things you are going to see at 100x magnification.

Then there's the weasel words "could be"

Classic e-cig hater stuff.

Actually that piece would make me more likely to use ceramic coils and less likely to buy anything made by Uwell.

Based on the title and Don's analysis, it looks like Uwell is trying to justify avoiding the expense and effort of developing ceramic coils more than actually doing the public a noble service. Sigh.

RE: No more ceramic coils for me.....
I've seen a few used ones that have chunks missing, whether this happened in big particles or small ones and how that differs is beyond my knowledge, but it still tallies up with their somewhat one sided findings.
Can't say I saw them mention how much over what period it'd be considered hazardous to health either.

The last slide says they used to.

If I were their US distributor I'd be looking for clean underwear about now.

As long as they don't order the underwear from FT! Smile

Interesting.

I don't use them, so I don't really care, lol.

RE: No more ceramic coils for me.....
It is not wrong they are trying to make their viewpoint, at least they have one. I think it's ok. I have seen crumbling ceramic wicking material but I am not in the position to know if the falling of particles can get into the lung. If they don't, then where? To the bottom of the tank? Can we collect some sand after a year or so?
