Nicotine/cotinine test HELP
So I’m getting a job at the hospital and it is a tobacco free hospital and test for nicotine/cotinine. I don’t have a vape or ecig or juul. I used to but stopped a while back. My friend has a juul and I’ve been using it a little bit lately. Not frequently at all. Friday Saturday and now today (Monday). Probably haven’t even used up a full tank (.7 ml) at 5%. How am I looking for a test in 8 days counting today? Just a little stressed about it. Obviously not touching it again until after the test. My stupidity. Any thoughts on how I will be for the test? Thanks a lot in advance

RE: Nicotine/cotinine test HELP
So if you're a smoker don't bother applying for a job?

Hmm not too sure what you mean. I’m not a smoker I just used his this weekend not thinking about it. Then came to find out about the test. This is just a test to get into the job and that’s it. The question I asked was only if I’d be in the clear. Thanks

RE: Nicotine/cotinine test HELP
I'm no chemist by any means, but I'm pretty sure nicotine is metabolised fairly quickly. I doubt it'll show in a test eight days away, though I could be wrong so I'll have a little Google now..

RE: Nicotine/cotinine test HELP
Seems there's implications as to how it was delivered into the system

However this extract brings some clarity;

"HOW LONG DOES NICOTINE STAY IN YOUR URINE?  When it comes to urine tests, they mostly focus on cotinine instead of nicotine. People who smoke an occasional cigarette don’t have much to worry about – cotinine usually clears out of urine in about three to four days. On the other hand, regular and heavy smokers can expect to test positive for up to three weeks after having their last cigarette"

RE: Nicotine/cotinine test HELP
I don't understand it. You have to be nicotine free to get a job?! This is ridiculous, I'm sorry. Why then, don't they make a test for caffeine too. Isn't that the same thing? Aren't they both stimulants? Urghhh...anyway....I am not a doc (and it seems I'll never be one, because I AM NOT NICOTINE FREE), but I'm pretty sure that you won't have any problems. Maybe drinking a lot of water and working out will help a bit.
