RE: New to coil building. What guage do I use??
Hmmmmm. How long does it take a new battery to charge? It's been 7 hours and still no green light. It sucks I got a charger that only charges one for no because it was free...going,to buy a new one tomorrow. But it's 26 guage and kanthal at 7 wraps and it's at .4 ohms now. I'll be aiming for .3 next time I build it. Just a simple dual coil. I'm using cotton bacon and it's actually great. They didn't have any Japanese):. I'm using the rda on my kangertech for now because it's resistance goes down to 0.3 and I'm at. 4 . Its working well I can't wait to try it on fully, charged batteries on the tesla!Smile also, how in the he'll do I post photos?

You'll need a good charger, anything under 300mah will take ages! 1a (1000mah) would suit the task best.
As your using a mobile you'll need to use a photo host site, photobucket worked well for me as it has an app. Just copy n paste the image link into the picture frame icon above the reply box.. though some code editing is required

Was this guy an employee or just a guy? Geez how can you work at a vape shop and not know how to build a proper coil.

Hey I've been reading through this thread and wanted to mention something. When everybody was talking about how different wire works, how many wraps, etc, it didn't sound like anyone noticed the OP mentioned building PARALLEL coils. Parallel is a whole different animal than a normal dual coil build, it cuts the resistance in half so it's quite easy to build low resistance builds with dual parallels.

If - like me - you want a really simple coil of 1.5 to 1.8 resistance what is the best gauge wire to use - that will give a reasonable channel for the wick?

30-28g depends on the kind of power you'd push through them ecig

For a 1.5 I am talking about around 14W and a 1.8 at around 9W - the same as I would use on a ready made coil of that resistance. Or does it not work that way with self build coils. Also do you know of a good basic building kit to start off with - for my new career[Image: i-m_so_happy.gif]

RE: New to coil building. What guage do I use??
It works just the same. It means you don't need or want thick wire for the coils.

I prefer thicker wires as they are easier to work with.

But for 1.8 ohms you want something like 6 turns round a 2.5mm former of 0.25mm wire (30 gauge), for 1.5 ohms about 5 wraps round the same former.

With 28 gauge, or as I prefer to call it 0.3mm you want 7 and 8.5 wraps round a 2.5mm former.

No I don't know all this stuff - the Steam Engine coil calculators are incredibly handy.
