New mods at Fasttech
Every morning I religiously check Fasttech's new products page for something new and interesting to feed my addiction to padded envelopes from China filled with goodies related to flashlights or vaping.  This morning I saw a new MOD that looks very different from the usual and I've decided to start this thread to share new stuff I find interesting and which others may as well.

#1 is interesting, #3 is not bad looking. #2 is a me too
Just curious, since these have no electronics how do they "taste" what prevents burning ?

They taste just dandy. Smile  People love them because they can deliver more current to the heating coils because there are no wires or electrical components in a true mech mod.  They hit hard and make enormous clouds of vapour.  Plus there is really nothing in them to go wrong or break.  Unprotected IMR cells are usually recommended due to the amperage a good mod can pull from the cell.  A regular Li-Ion of good quality can also be used but only if unprotected.  Protected cells have a tendency to trip their protection circuits.  Whether you burn your juice or not is dependent on the resistance of the coils you use.

The normal rule of thumb is 2 volts higher than the heating coil's resistance.  So if you are running a 1.8 ohm coil in your atty when using a mod you will probably be too hot since 4.2v-1.8=2.4v and that's a bit more than recommended to not burn your liquid.

If you have a fully charged cell running at 4.2v you would want to be running a heating coil of 2.2 ohms or more...in theory.  However, due to natural resistance losses, even the best mechs lose .1v by the time they hit the coil(s).  Mechs made of lesser conductive metals lose a little more.  Because of this you could probably get away with a 2.1 ohm coil or even a 2.0 ohm coil since as soon as you start hitting the vap the voltage will drop due to the current draw.

I hope this helps.  If not let me know and I'll think of another way to describe it. Wink

Got it, adjustments are made by coil resistance.
