RE: New Member Looking for Recommendations
Hi and welcome Chris.

It looks like you are in good hands already.

In a crude sort of way you can say things with a big bore drip tip are aimed at direct to lung and will require more power and air. They'll give massive clouds and often poorer flavour. Things can get a bit crazy, there is a video here of Mike (gentlydoingit*) taking a hit at over 1kW.

That's very expensive on juice though and isn't for everyone.

Smaller drip tips are usually better for mouth to lung vaping.

In general drippers (Of whatever style) give better flavour than tanks. Though a good tank may well give better flavour than a bad dripper.

Most people (IMO) are never really going to need or want more than 100W (See above). I reckon you need a single cell per 50W for decent life and safety (Lithium batteries don't like running much past that and can express their displeasure in violent ways).

IMO a 2 cell 100W device is likely to power just about everything out there apart from the most dedicated cloud chasing atomisers. Which tend to give little or no flavour and are IMO more use as fog machines.

Devices claiming over 200W from 2 cells are a) unlikely actually to be able to deliver that power and b) dangerous if they actually can deliver that power as the cells are being massively abused.

Agreed! While the Charon Mini I recommended is 'rated' at a max of 225w, I did not buy it for that sort of power. I bought it because it is a great performer, and I prefer two cells for the cell longevity. I will never even begin to approach firing at the advertised maximum power of that mod. And of course, aesthetics and fancy things like a big screen are important to me. Not sure how that rates with you.

Hi Chris - the best thing to do now is pick out some gear and tell us about it - anything adverse that we know of we will tell you. Just make up your mind about how you are going to vape - that has to be sorted first.

I cant see that anyone has addressed your "control temperature" comment [though I could've missed it] for that you will need a mod that does temp control well.

That is true Rob. But to me I can control my vape temp perfectly well knowing the resistance of the coil and the wattage or the voltage. Granted that's probably because I'm used to it. I just haven't to temp control yet, can never really get it to work right for me. That's not to say it's not worth trying though.

You also need to build using temp control wire, stainless steel, nickle (don't recommend) or titanium (no experience with it) or a prebuilt coil that uses one of the mentioned wires.

I'd like the thank everyone for all the suggestions and tips.

I've seen a lot of people mention charlie's custard in the e-liquid section. Is that something I should be able to find at a local store, or have to order online?

Hi Chris. Specific vendor juice local availability varies greatly. Only way to know would be to call or visit the local shops. Most of us make our own juice, which you'll likely end up dong as well. It's a very fun part of this hobby. And saves you a lot of money.
