Mutation X V5 build help
I'm stumped, I can't seem to get any kind of good flavor out of this thing. I'm about ready to throw it against the wall, rend my garments, flip tables in a temple somewhere, etc.

First I tried 24g kanthal 5 wrap dual coil at about .3 ohm, then a postless twisted 26g ss316L stovetop coil @ .5 ohm, now I've got 26g twisted 6 wrap dual ss316L at .15, and tried wattages from 40-60. NONE of these taste any different, just muted and bland with the barest hint of a whiff of a smidge of flavor from 3 different juices (70/30 and 80/20 between the lot of them). I really thought I had it this time because I placed the coils slightly above the 3 lowest intake holes, closing all other airflow off. My thinking was that I could mimic a bottom airflow by feeding air to the coils placed right above the bottom most side airholes.

Nope. Its all the same, no difference whatsoever. I've looked online and I haven't been able to find any information on this, and like I said I'm about to kill it with fire. Does anyone own one of these things, and have a build in mind? I'm no pro, but I think I'm doing everything right and I'm getting pretty discouraged and frustrated. Sad

RE: Mutation X V5 build help
I'm guessing it's a Mutation X V5.

RE: Mutation X V5 build help
It's quite a tall atty, getting good flavour is a tall order. 60w might not be enough, what you need is more coil bang for buck. Try 3mm id quad coils or parallels perhaps a fused claptons if your feeling frisky.
It'll never be a flavour chaser due to its design but you should get better flavour than you do now.
What else are you vaping to compare it to?

Hey FB - you are not supposed to get distracted now you are a staff member - a bit more care and attention is needed - and your behaviour will be watched carefully - we do not need any more TW's on the forum.

When I get back I'll have to read the rules, duration of my probation period, etc..... Tongue

Figured I could slack off until some type of formal announcement was made Smile

RE: Mutation X V5 build help
We always talk about what resistance vapes best at what wattage. So much is dependent on your atty. I use a Haladay on my squonk at .2 ohms and the flavor is amazing at 33.5 watts. Seems counter intuitive to build so low. However, the small clapton heats up fast and I love it. So diameter of the coil is also important. My squonk attys usually have 2.5 dia. On RDAs sitting on a series mech, I often go 3.5.

My NarDa is also fairly low - around a .25 build but I need to vape this at a whopping 35 watts. My Nuppin is a mech and I'm at .4 resistance. Also a great vape.

Length of coil, type of wire, type of atty. All have a bearing on the quality of your vape. Even simply pushing a coil higher or lower can make a huge difference. My Nuppin coil is pushed pretty high up. So there are no hard and fast rules.
