MTL coil builds
Hey Mouth to lung coil builders!

Just a thread for anyone interested in sharing tips/tricks, favorite wire type, resistance, best builds.

I'm trying to get it down switching between Kanthal and Nichrome 26ga - aiming for 0.8 - 1ohm

I manage to get a very nice vape, but my main problem is that the coil gets nasty in about 2 days. I've tried different eLiquids and seems to be the same result. If I do a spaced coil, it lasts longer, but the vape isn't so good.

Let me know any secrets to the perfect mtl vape. Thanks!

RE: MTL coil builds
Sweetened liquids will gunk things up. Best bet is just to dry burn (15W tops) when you rewick. If you don't let the wick get dry, wicks will last for weeks.

RE: MTL coil builds
I rarely build for mtl, I'm more a dtl guy personally but the concept is still the same.
Like Don said, it's the sweetener causing the issues, you could try mixing your own Wink
Have you tried thinner wire on your builds? Maybe a 28 or 30g.. you could even get a nice ss coil to the right resistance with those.

RE: MTL coil builds
26g Nichrome is more suited to dtl , it heats quickly at lower power than other wire .

Why be normal when wierd is so much fun.

RE: MTL coil builds
I don't like using thinner than around 26g Kanthal though I have used 28 and 30. Problem with the thin stuff is having to make a new coil every time you rewick.

Fair point. Guess because I usually wrap multi cores they tend to be quite ridged.

RE: MTL coil builds
Missed this thread for some reason. Try 28g Kanthal 5 wraps 3mm core. Depending on leg length and a half wrap or so you will get a nice MTL coil of between 1ohm and 1.2ohm. It is a good base to start from - it is all I use now - best of luck.

Told you the Master would come along.

I used to use that very build, albeit in parallel for a .65 deck. Yes, it's a good one. All I would add- and I acknowledge that my reference is from a parallel sub-ohm perspective- would be to space the wraps.
