Exclamation Leaked confidential new proposal for regulating e-cigs
Late last week the European Commission circulated a confidential new proposal for regulating e-cigarettes.

The document was sent only to those negotiating the future of e-cigarettes behind closed doors in Brussels – representatives of the European Parliament and European Council.

RE: Leaked confidential new proposal for regulating e-cigs
If the worst comes to the worst, how hard can it be to extract nicotine? My first degree was in chemistry. It really isn't all that hard to extract pure nicotine. A few hundred quid on lab gear and glassware will get that sorted. Just remember that pure nicotine is rather dangerously poisonous.

Think Breaking Bad here.

And just how well are all sorts of illegal drugs controlled? Before one even starts to mention legal highs? Spent a few hours today in a very locked psychiatric ward with a victim of assorted legal highs. Said pun ted has no idea at all of what they had consumed - probably neither did the person that scold the punter the stuff.

For that matter, the synthesis of nicotine from raw materials isn't all that hard compared with that of Vitamin B12.

But you had better know wheat you are doing... But no more than your average meth cooker.

I find it strange that the European Commission is now putting pressure on the European Parliament to change the ruling of just a few weeks ago - and all in secret. It sounds very similar to the Maastricht Treaty which was pushed through the European Parliament under a number of different disguises even though European voters in many countries voted against it.
