Kbox Mini 50 watt
Hey everyone, I just recently purchased a kbox mini 50 watt.  I am using a royal hunter rda and am having problems making a good coil for this.  It needs to run a minimum of .6 ohms and every time that I get my coil there it always tastes burnt.  I have tried running it at 20 watts to 40 watts and no matter what it always tastes burnt.  Any ideas for a good coil to make to prevent this?  Thanks!

Thanks Robjenko, Ive been experimenting with different widths on the coils, watt levels etc and it still continues to taste burnt.  SO, I do hope that folks respond to give me some ideas lol.

RE: Kbox Mini 50 watt
hi and welcome
here is a tutorial for the royal hunter RDA
although the ohms are lower than you want it gives an idea of wicking etc

this is a good calculator for your coils
http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp?s=d...a=0.4&id=3
what guage wire are you using 8 wraps of 0.4 around a 3mm screwdriver will bring you out at around 0.6 Good

if at first you don't succeed ,call it version 1.0

RE: Kbox Mini 50 watt
Thanks Bob.  I can defenitly get to the .6 ohms the only problem im running into is the  burnt taste no matter what coil I make and no matter how many watts I run it at.  Ive been using 24 gauge kanthal a1 along with the 3 mm coiomaster kit.  Defebitly thank you for the video and advice!

RE: Kbox Mini 50 watt
sounds like it could be your wicking
your wick needs to be able to slide inside your coils not to tight and not to loose
its hard to explain but if you copy the guy in the video you shouldn't be far off
also when you are heating up your coils (before you wick) check that they are heating up from the middle of the coil and that the legs are not glowing Good
edit       just checked on steam and you have around 13 wraps on your coil try some 26 guage if you have any around 8 wraps
its possible with 13 wraps the juice is struggling to reach the centre of the coil giving you a burnt taste

if at first you don't succeed ,call it version 1.0

RE: Kbox Mini 50 watt
If you are aiming for 0.6 and using 24g A1 (dual coils) you will need 13 wraps....I would increase the inner diameter closer to 3.5mm and run 12 wraps. The larger inner spacing would allow for better wicking. If you have 26g A1 as Bob noted, you can significantly reduce the number of wraps (to 9 wraps) and slightly increase the ohms (closer to 0.7) in the build. The wonderful thing about cotton is that it's not expensive - wick it, try it a few times and then rewick....slightly more or slightly less cotton - like many people here, that was one of the trickier parts of RDA builds...and once you think you mastered it, you'll find each RDA is different! Smile

Without the cap on, when you fire it, is it just smoke or is it angry? (popping)

The Royal Hunter RDA is a nice decent sized deck... really forgiving and room for the cotton...even once you build and wick, you have the room to use a pair of tweezers or screwdriver to divert and slightly move the cotton around on that deck....best of luck and let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the response.  This is very helpful.  Without the cap on (depending on the build) it will either pop or it just smokes.  I am noticing that when I look at the coil a lot of the burn is on the outside of the coil.  However, when I build the coil I always make sure that it is burning from the middle out.  So, that defenitly makes me think that there has to be something going on with my wicking as well lol (defenitly new to this) lol  When I get home tonight im going to mess around with this some more and see what happens.  Thanks again for the advice!!
