RE: Idea: Archery string server to wrap coils. Comments?
Yes, I am using a blow torch.

I got a 3/32 brass rod today and tried it.  It really didn't do any better than I can do by hand.  And it definitely had more setup time.

I'm going to give it a shot with some 28g wire I have on the way, but I'm thinking the idea might not be useful.

I do however have an idea that I got from all this.  It would have a spool of wire with a thumb screw to adjust tension.  Then a rod would be placed near it.  The rod would be threaded on one end with fine threads.  The rod would also have a hole in it to feed the wire.  Feed the wire through the hole and when you turn the rod, the rod would move slightly up while wrapping the coil.  In theory (or my imagination) that should wrap a nice tight coil if the tension on the spool could be adjusted correctly and the threading was correct and didn't turn to fast or too slow.
Did that make any sense?  It does in my head. Smile

Yep, made perfect sense to me. Let us know how it goes... I've found though that with a bit of practice it becomes fairly easy to wrap by hand.
