How many wraps
Hi Guys - My Kuros will arrive tomorrow so my question is - how many wraps of 28gauge kanthal on the 25 jig for a 1.8ohm coil; a 1.5 and a 1.2. Also is 25 better for this than 20 or 30 jigs that are in the set as well. I am totally lost here - but excited[Image: smile.gif] - and at my age that is not good[Image: dodgy.gif].

RE: How many wraps
28g 25 Jig (assuming you mean 2.5mm inner diameter) you'll need approx 11 wraps.

28g 30 Jig 10 wraps

I wouldn't be tempted to go below 2.5 due to potential wicking issues but if you do, below are the numbers

28g 20 Jig 14 wraps

28g 15 Jig 18 wraps

There's also the problem of actually fitting the coils in the atty... they do get wide rather quickly which makes it impossible to work with them unless you have a Velocity Styled deck Smile

There's a simple and very easy to use coil calculator here - http://coiltoy.ermeso.com/

Have fun Eddie Good3

RE: How many wraps
Single or dual coils? Using 28g in dual I'd use 3mm an go 10-11 wraps to hit the 1.2ohm target.

If your shooting for a 1.8 in 28g dual it's going to need between 17-19 wraps dependant on internal size. Now I wouldn't make a coil that long, the middle of the coil can get dry if the coils too long, it'll need really good wicking to pull it off flawlessly.
I think my first suggestion will work out well. You could do with some 30g to get the 1.8 range easily

RE: How many wraps
Thanks for the input guys - I obviously have picked the wrong gauge wire. What gauge would I need for a single coil on a 25jig at around 1.5ohms and say 5 or 6 wraps - is that possible[Image: huh.gif].

RE: How many wraps
0.25mm 30 gauge will do 1.5 ohms in 5 wraps round a 2.5mm former. 6 wraps of the same wire will give you 1.8 ohms.

RE: How many wraps
Only problem is that such thin wire can be fiddly to handle.
