I couldn't get a good pic of the color, it either didn't show the color at all or looked really fake, but basically it's a rainbow and I have no idea how that happened.

That looks awesome Michael...something to aspire to! Good

You can do the same with titanium coils, they change colour in a nice way when suitably heated. Just don't heat them too much or they'll ignite.

claptons 430ss/34 3mm x 6 wraps .13 ohm dual coil . wont fire in the D2 , to be honest thinking thei may require a 2 18650 mod .

curious as to how this resistance compares to others of the same build.

430 is very similar to ni80/20 in many ways, but gets really brittle after a good glowing. It has the highest resistance of the stainless'

Yes but 430 ss heats up nicely and is really nice for TC and to build with. The resistivity is high at 0.0085 Ohms / mm but dual coils on most any mod seems to run cooler than on Kanthal.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Yeah, it would be great in tc.. but only if your mod has a good tcr, on the rx200 it sucked ass, 316L was better.
It's almost indistinguishable from ni80 in power mode with almost the same resistance.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
the D2 only suports Ti and Ni200 in TC mode , i tried the Ni 80/20 in the Ni200 setting it seemed to work ok but was better in power mode .
was more asking how my claptons built with the 430ss/34 compared to the same built by others to gauge where my build is at . more to figure my quality than anything else , and give me a mark to shoot for .

I think your build has a lower resistance than my last one did, other than that I can't remember.
I'll wrap another later, we can compare notes Big Grin

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
I put dual 28*2/40 316L fused claptons in my Supreme yesterday. At 10 wraps per coil, it worked out to be a very usable 0.35Ω build. At 400F with 55W boost and airflow set to medium, it's hands down the best setup I've had so far.

Cheers,
Egg

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
stumbled on to a moment of clearness , when building an fc it is much easier to place the start of your wrap between your inside wires than to try and wrap around , especialy with finer gauge wire.
