RE: How do you dip yer wick?
That sounds like an interesting build. Personally, I've not had much luck with ribbon wire, but some people love it. I'm not sure about the resistance of twisted 28 vs Clapton 26, but even if they're not quite the same, just call it staged heating and you're good. I say go for it. At the very least, it'll be pretty to look at, and I'm sure it'll vape at least decently. I'm just pessimistic when it comes to ribbon wire.

Alien wire is a pain in the ass, just fair warning. It vapes exactly the same as a fused Clapton, but way harder to make. Really the only difference is that it looks cool, but for me that's not enough reason to make it.

Haha in most cases, I'm happy to make pretty coils just for the sake of them being pretty. But in the specific case of Alien wire, it's enough harder that it's just not worth it to me. I've tried to make Alien wire several times, and each time I've ended up just balling up the wasted wire and pouring myself a few shots of whiskey to forget the agony.

I like ribbon.
I don't like to wrap a core twice (with double thickness).. in my experience the core wire is able to heat up quicker and won't get as much juice supply to it giving a burned flavour to the vape.

Ribbon has its uses mike, double it then twist it you'll see what I mean Wink

When life hands you lemmons , make lemmon aid . When life hands you coconuts , stuff them in your shirt and ask if they make your boobs look big .

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
I tried ribbon twisted with round, never could get the hotspots out. Also tried ribbon clapton, that didn't work so well either. Then there was my recent build for the contest, which looked awesome but wasn't that great. I mean, it wasn't terrible but it wasn't amazing either. So I guess I've just done it wrong. The only build I've really loved using ribbon wire was the stapled fused helix I built a few months ago, man that thing was difficult though.

Actually I find the stapled fused claptons taste better than aliens nine times out of ten. An aliens are angry coils - they spit.

Going to be very hard, I think, to keep the spacing on the wrap consistent. The advantage of building the staggered stapled fused claptons is that after you remove a wire from each clapton, you have a nice divot for your stapling wrap to slot into.

Thank you for writing the funniest thing I've read all week.

2x24ga core, twisted 32ga wrap, 316L SS FC. 0.08 ohms, I'm 99% sure this is the lowest resistance I've ever built. I couldn't get a good pic of the color, it either didn't show the color at all or looked really fake, but basically it's a rainbow and I have no idea how that happened.
