Nichrome is great in staged fused claptons as a permutation. Just a by the way staged coils vape better in my opinion.

Weird, although I love the look of them I'm not overly keen on the vape... like you were saying about points of view paul

First attempt at spaced Claptons. Well, first time I've ever put them on an RDA and used them. Twisted 38ga wrapped around a single 24ga core. Comes out to 0.21 ohms, vapes nice at 60W.

It just occurred to me that this is a whole new frontier.... vaping isn't just about retail mods, mech units, combination of available equipment, custom juices, mixing your own juices and now the wick configurations, wrap configuration, combinations, etc....good thing I quit smoking when I did...I'll need all of my remaining years to not only catch up on whats been done but to participate in all that is yet to come...I started on page one of this thread....will take me weeks to get to this page and by then there will be another 30 pages. Smile

This forum rocks!

If I were you I'd start on page 47 Tongue

Gently's coils are awesome, and I believe he was one of the first to post more complex builds rather than just simple macro coils. I know he inspired me and my coil pics got better after that Tongue

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
I have to credit gently as well. I started with the single wraps and got to where they 'looked' normal, even. Then I watched what he could do and set myself on learning at least a scant few of his tricks. And I'm happily building my own well-performing dual twisted coils that give me the best vape I have ever had. Even pulled off a dual twisted fused Clapton, although for my preference it just got too hot for my liking. But it was all because of gently, and of course paulS. With the support of those folks, it really is not that hard to pull off.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
I just took a trip down memory lane, looked through every page from 47-now. Got a few favorites:

Page 60 - Mike's twisted fc
Page 67 - my first fc
Page 74 - Mike's sterling silver fc
Page 75 - my craziest build, the Giger Coil
Page 78 - my stapled helix
Page 85 - my best coils ever (so far)

Also, on April 28 I made the FCs that I'm STILL USING in my Phenotype-L. I haven't made many coils lately since these are still going strong, I've been using them nearly constantly ever since then at around 100-150W depending on the day, I can't even believe they're still good.
