RE: How do you dip yer wick?
To many things to do right before Christmas so didn't get a change to twist up another coil. Thanks for the input guys.

Think I will try a micro coil and some cotton and hope that it will have significantly less heat.  Thanks again

Ok. So here's a photographic step by step. Its on a trident clone, came out at 1ohm. I did 12 wraps of .1x.5mm kanthal ribbon around a 2mm screw driver.

Note I leave the tails long till everything is buttoned up,  and get the cotton in before trimming and tucking it under the coils, this gives reasonable capacity for a dripper and a nice vape, the trident though is a 20ish mm device, if it was a real small (sub 17mm) dripper,  this would be a hot vape. It also has pretty open dual holes which again helps cool the vape. If your airholes are below 1mm, , I'd be reaching for a drill and a 1.5 - 2 mm bit pretty fast.

Sweet nice setup!

Need to get to twisting some wire and some cotton to see if i can get this little bity thing to vape where i like it. Mine has 3 small hole on the side and you teist the knurled part to open and close it. When all three are exposed it fills like no restiction at all. Maybe after a new ciol i can find a happy spot on it.

Does thicker or thinner juice make bigger clouds Wink

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
That's a really nice setup graham, MAN! look at all that wicking if it works that absolutely fantastic.

Sensible question time now - If you made that setup with 28Gauge (.32mm) Kanthal and finished at 1 ohm you'd be waiting for ages for the coils to heat especially with that much surface area contact with the juice (has to be minimum 0.7 to get the best out of it)

Since you're using ribbon and what seems like a lot if it, due to the fact it's thinner I suspect there's not a same delay in heating as you'd get from round wire ?

Thicker will give bigger clouds. It usually because the thicker juice has a higher percentage of VG compared with the thinner juices.

I use a 50/50 mix more often than not but if I want to chuck some clouds I've been known to make a 70/30 VG/PG ratio juice.

To go really crazy a 100% VG juice is great on a dripper but I haven't managed to vape it without dry hits on any tank yet, and it doesn't carry the flavour so well. I do like the marshmallow texture and the slight chalky sensation from the VG though Big Grin

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
There is a slight delay in heating, nine wraps per side may have been a better bet but I wanted to give some idea of a sensible build. I also didn't want to end up at .5ohm, its too much for my panasonics. I built that at nine last night. Vaped it till ten thirty and it was just ready for reloading when I went to bed, I wasn't chain vaping but still, its nice to have a little capacity.

I should say, I do really like the ribbon wire. It heats the wick (so obviously the liquid) much more efficiently than round wire, because its flat and pretty much all in contact with the wick. It also doesn't need torching, just pinch it, pull through you finger and thumb to straighten then wrap, dead easy.

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Wrapped a micro coil 12-13 wraps around a 5/64 drill bit. Measures 1.7 ohms, and threaded a pinch of a cotton ball in and around it. Definitely better on the heat but the flavor (grape rancher) tastes muted. Guess thats the next thing i have to fix! Well at least i can chuck a little smoke now. Still not a ton but more then my other stuff. Wish it was easier to post pics from my iphone and i would give yall a look see.
-------------
Edit
Just tried the same juice on my vivi nova mini and it was muted also! Think i might be getting a little cold so will give another chance for flavor☀️

I've had the same thing. Try not to smother the coil, I just tuck any excess under the coil leaving the top expised.

For pick posting, sign up for imageshack or photobucket etc, then just post an img link.  I do everything using my galaxy s3

RE: How do you dip yer wick?
Well tried my new setup this morning after I had woke up and I must say it has flavor now!  I also pulled the top off and found some wick covering the coils and one was trying to block one of the air holes.

it is significantly better than it was last night will try and maybe will be even better when I get my taste back...

hopefully in a couple of weeks and I will have a full grown rebuildable
